Summertime Carry

Spring has finally shown itself here in the Carolinas, and I don’t know about you, but I’ve transitioned to my summertime carry rig. Over the winter I carried my Glock 19 in either my Crossbreed Supertuck, or the DeSantis Thumbreak Scabbard (that I cut the thumbreak off of). Both of these rigs work great in the winter, but when spring arrives, I want to walk around in flip flops and board shorts and I don’t really like worrying about wearing a sturdy belt all the time.

I’ve transitioned to my Kel-Tec PF-9 in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. I’m not really a huge fan of the Kel-Tec, but it’s proven itself to be reliable and accurate, even with it’s god awful trigger, and pot metal slide. I’m holding out for the Springfield XDS 9mm to start hitting stores, and once I get one it will become my primary summertime pistol after a good shakedown.

Are you moving to a pistol that is easier to carry now that warmer weather is here?

  1. What type of holster do you plan to use with the XDS?

    • I ordered a Crossbreed Mini-tuk for 4:00 carry, and I’m still looking for an appendix rig. I’m also hoping that it will work for pocket carry in cargo shorts.
