When Have You Screwed Up and Known it?

TJ in Charlotte sends in today’s Q&A podcast question asking about a time that I’ve screwed up in a match.

It should come as no surprise that I have, in fact, screwed up in matches. The first one that comes to mind was when I decided to put a big, huge magazine release on my Glock 24 the night before a 3-Gun match. I didn’t bother to make sure that it didn’t interfere with the holster and I regretted it.

The other stage that really sticks with my as something that I royally screwed up was a USPSA match maybe 6 or 8 months ago where I came up with a brilliant stage plan that didn’t require me to do a reload that all my friends were planning on doing. Idiots!

Yeah, I didn’t have to do that reload because I hadn’t realized that there was one more target. I executed my stage plan flawlessly, shot a fantastic stage, and then got the “iiiiiiiiiiiiif you are fiiiiiiiiinished…..” and knew I had screwed up something.
