Ladies: Concealed Carry Fashion Show

Candy Sugarman from the Gun Powder Gals is hosting a concealed carry fashion show this coming September. As a manly man, I’m not super interested in such a thing, but as someone who believes that women should be empowered to carry wherever they please for their own protection, I think this is a great idea to show women some of the different ways to carry concealed, and possibly try some different types of holsters and …

Local Folks: You’ll Probably Want to Watch This…

Thursday on the 6PM news, WRAL will be exposing a runaround to NC law that allows people to obtain a concealed carry permit while bypassing NC’s “rigorous” requirements. Here’s the link to their write-up on it. (Watch the video, and look closely at the 22 second mark). I’ll hold off on my thoughts until I see the piece tomorrow evening.

NC Sheriff Denies Pistol Permit on Subjective “Moral Character” Reasoning

Here in NC, we still have an old Jim Crow law that requires people to obtain a Pistol Purchase Permit from their county Sheriff before purchasing a handgun. While I disagree with having to get the Sheriffs blessing before purchasing a handgun, there’s a little part of the NC law that sticks in my craw even worse, and that’s that the Sheriff can deny a PPP to someone based on their moral character. NCGS 14-404 …

An Unscientific Case Study on Pro and Anti-Gun Bumper Stickers

Last Wednesday (just minutes before my car blew up) I decided while driving home from work that I would start keeping track of the amount of pro-gun and anti-gun bumper stickers that I see on my commute across Raleigh every day. I basically only had one rule: I wouldn’t count the stickers if I saw them in parking lots (not fair, because I spend a lot of time at gun and sporting good type stores) …

Don’t Reload With THAT Powder, It’s So Filthy!

When I first started reloading about a year ago, it seemed like everyone told me that I NEEDED to have a Dillon 550 or 650, and I needed to load 147gr bullets over Titegroup or Clays powder to be competitive in competition. When I purchased a couple pounds of Unique, people told me that I wouldn’t like it, but I ran through about 3 pounds of it without a single issue. When I started using …

Dear NC General Assembly (An Open Letter on Pro-Gun Legislation)

Y’all seem ready and willing to introduce new pro-gun legislation this session, so I wanted to take a moment and let you know about a few things that I’d like to see fixed in the general statutes regarding guns: Currently, a concealed pistol can only be secured in a vehicle on school grounds. This was a big step when this bill passed, but it was rushed and worded poorly. I know folks that pull over …

“But I Don’t Have an iPod, So…”

A while back I was talking to someone about the podcast, and they asked if we put the episodes on YouTube because they don’t have an iPod to listen to the show on. This is pretty common, so I wanted to take a minute and show everyone with an Android phone how to subscribe. You’ll need to download a podcast app. I use Podkicker, which is available for free in the Google Play store. There are …

CCW Badges? We Don’t Need No Stinking Badges!

Today a bill was filed in NC for an extra special concealed carry permit that would basically allow permit holders to ignore all anti-ccw signage in the state… and… it would require them to carry a CCW badge issued by their sheriff. CCW badges are dumb, even if the bill would require them. Its SB708 and its called the Homeland Security Patriot Act. I almost feel like Senator Tarte is just trolling us with this.
