We get asked a lot about what we use/recommend for getting started in reloading, so I decided to put together a list of all the stuff that we have started with, that’s good enough to get you started on a shoestring budget.
This setup will run you about $325 at the time of my writing this.
Lee Precision Classic Turret Press
Lee Precision 9-mm Carbide 4-Die Set Luger (Obviously you’ll need a different set of dies if you’re not loading 9mm)
Lee Precision Safety Primer Feed Large and Small
Lee Precision Auto Drum Powder Measure (The video below shows the Auto-disk, but I later upgraded to the Auto-drum and I think it’s a much finer product.)
Lee Precision Auto Disk Riser (If you skip this, your powder measure may bump the primer feeder when the turret rotates.)
Frankford Arsenal Reloading Scale
Frankford Arsenal Master Tumbler Kit
Digital Caliper in both SAE & Metric
Here’s a basic tour of the setup I did a while back. My press and tumbler are a little different than what’s listed above, but Ben uses the versions in the above links.
Are you using the disk or the drum now? I recall you saying something about the drum in a podcast
I’m actually onto a Dillon now, but yes, I definitely recommend the auto drum. I’ll update this this afternoon.
I changed over from auto disk to the auto drum recently, and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done for my Lee set up.
