This Week in Bad Ideas

Sigh. I’m not sure what’s going on with gun manufacturers and accessory companies this week. First, the folks at DeSantis (who make fine leather holsters) came out with this monstrosity this week: Post by Triangle Tactical. What were they thinking? A “holster” that attaches to the gun, but other than holding the gun onto your belt, doesn’t do anything that a holster is supposed to do (like cover the trigger guard, have a means for …

Second Amendment Foundation Sues North Carolina

I had no idea this was coming, but I couldn’t be happier to see it! BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation today filed a lawsuit in federal district court in North Carolina on behalf of an Australian citizen who legally resides in the state, but cannot obtain a concealed carry permit under a state law that only allows citizens to get such permits. This is great news! We have plenty of people who are …

“I want to give my Girlfriend a gun, but only want it to make noise”

I’m almost as a loss for words here. This post starts out pretty sane: person is having an issue with a peeping Tom, and want to make sure his girlfriend has a means to protect herself should there be a home invasion when he isn’t home. Noble. But then the derp starts. He wants to load some blanks for her so he doesn’t risk (the possibly inexperienced with firearms) girlfriend shooting his garage or one …

Well, it looks official anyways! Gallery of Guns is listing the new Shield in their online store now, which is great news! Last week I posted about an image that I had come across while surfing on Facebook that showed the S&W Shield “No Safety”, but it wasn’t clear if the image was real at the time. It’s now looking like it’s real, and I’m pretty excited about it. As far as I can tell, …

S&W Shield No Thumb Safety

So, I found this on Facebook tonight… I don’t know if it’s real, or where it was originally published, but I really hope it’s  real. The safety was the thing that made the S&W Shield not as good as it could have been, and hopefully S&W has been listening. I went so far as to work on prototyping an extended safety for the Shield (here and here) but if I can get a Shield without …

Morrisville, NC Parks Signed “No Guns” Incorrectly

It appears that even after ejecting Mayor against illegal guns Jackie Holcombe last year, the town of Morrisville, NC still hasn’t bothered to actually read the NC General Statutes regarding concealed carry in parks. Recently new signs appeared in the parks near baseball fields that say the following: “NOTICE: All Firearms Prohibited in This Area” The problem with this is that ever since HB937 was passed into law last year municipalities don’t have the authority …
