DIY – M&P Novak Rear Sight Modification

I’ve mentioned a couple times that I feel that the Novak sights that come on the S&W M&P9 Pro are a little crowded. When shooting I feel like I’m not getting as much light through the sight picture as I would like. The obvious answer would be to just buy new sights, but that is too easy. I’ve become a really big fan of my Sevigny competition sights that I have installed on my Glock …

S&W M&P Pro 9mm Review

Its been a couple months since I posted my initial thoughts on the Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm Pro. Since writing about that, the pistol has become my primary competition pistol, and I’ve used it in every match I have shot since picking it up. Accuracy: Right off the bat, this pistol throws lead very accurately. At 25 yards it has grouped 5 rounds at 2.5″ or less, and in matches, I have routinely placed rounds into …

The S&W M&P Magazine Baseplates Are Too Big!

One of my gripes about the S&W M&P9 Pro is that the magazine baseplates are just too big! Recently Hilton Yam posted on the 10-8 Performance blog that the newest, 2012 production M&P 9mm barrels appear to have a slower twist rate, closer to that of the KKM aftermarket …

S&W M&P9 Pro Trigger Job

Yesterday I posted about my first impressions of the Smith & Wesson M&P9 Pro, and the majority of my discontent with the pistol was with the awful gritty trigger. Sure, I could throw an Apex Tactical DCAEK kit in the pistol, and the trigger would improve considerably, however, I don’t feel that I should need to throw a $100 trigger kit into a brand new pistol in order for it to have a serviceable trigger. …

S&W M&P9 Pro – First impression

This past Friday I picked up a Smith & Wesson M&P9 Pro to use as my primary competition pistol. I have been shooting Glock pistols for around 2 years and recently I’ve become interested in this particular model. I headed to Carolina Gunrunners in North Raleigh and picked it up, and decided to give it a whirl. Keep in mind that I am a Glock fanboy, so while I am going to try be as …
