Competitive Shooting is SRSLY Serious Business

One of the misconceptions that people who haven’t shot competitively before seem to have is this idea that every match is super serious business, and every person competing is there looking to win the big prize.

The fact is, most of the people are at a match because they enjoy it. It’s what some of us use to exercise that little boy inside us that just want’s to go fast. Sure, I like doing well as much as the next guy, but the thing that keeps me coming back to more matches is the camaraderie and interaction I have with other shooters, and the fun.

If every match were a super serious thing where I couldn’t BS and joke around with friends, I’d find something else to waste my Saturdays on.

  1. I have run into “serious” competitors who just glare when I make a joke at a match. Also, I’ve seen some curse out an RO if they think they weren’t given the exactly correct range instruction. Don’t like being squadded with people like that.

    • Yeah, sure there are always those guys in anything, but I think the misconception that a lot of people who have never come out to a match have is that EVERYBODY there will be like that, and that’s just not the case.

  2. Playing with finger puppets again! I need to get some of those for “special” videos.
