TC in Hickory sends in today’s Q&A podcast question asking about any tips for raising kids in a home with guns.
When I was a kid, guns were absolutely unavailable to me, unless I was supervised by my Dad, and I think that’s the way it should be.
I don’t think I was really interested in guns as a real young kid, because I think I got my curiosity satisfied by my toy guns, which I had a bunch of.
I don’t have kids, but I think if you try to ignore the issue with them, they may get curious and go looking for things. Personally, I think guns should be completely off limits unless the child is under your direct supervision. When they’re under your supervision, you can teach them all the things they need to know, most importantly: what to do if they find a gun.
