Tip: Lee Value Turret Spent Primer Fix

(Link for Email/RSS Readers) Since getting setup with the Lee Value Turret press, I’ve been having about 10% of my spent primers fall out onto the floor while reloading. This isn’t a huge deal, but it’s annoying constantly having to sweep them up. I made a quick, almost zero cost solution for this by molding some kydex around the three posts of the press to act as a guide for the primers as they fall …

Budget Reloading Setup Tour

Y’all asked for it, so here goes: (Link for Email/RSS Readers) Quick note: It looks like my press is moving a bit when I work the lever. This is because my tripod was in the way, so I didn’t have my foot on the workbench like I do when I’m loading normally.

Adventures in Reloading #3 – Go Buy This

A long time ago Ben told me about this socket timer thing that he bought that would allow his tumbler to run for a certain amount of time, then shut it off. My first thought was “Oh, like a Christmas light timer!” Rong. The thing with a Christmas light timer is that if you tumble the brass, and then you forget to check it before the next day comes around, you will end up tumbling …

Adventures in Reloading #2 – If it Won’t Fit, Don’t Force it

So what happened was… With all of the reloading content recently we’ve been getting a lot of feedback from readers and podcast listeners. One listener wrote in to tell about an experience he had last week during his first time reloading on a single stage press, and he gave me permission to share this with all of you. He was priming large primer .45ACP brass, and he believes a piece of small primer .45ACP brass …

I loaded 10 of them, and was planning on leaving it at that until I had a chance to shoot them. I mentioned it to Ben, and he said “Well, …

DIY – Tumbling Media Separator

After getting my reloading press all put together and ready to rock, I found myself with a bunch of clean brass in the tumbler with no way to separate it from the crushed walnut media. I looked around the garage, and found a stack of 3 little trash cans that appeared in my garage about the time of our wedding a few months back. I figured since they nest together so nice it would be …

Washing Brass Instead of Tumbling

I attempted washing brass instead of tumbling it using a recipe I found on YouTube. It was a failed experiment, and I’ll be buying a tumbler now. What a mess… (Link for Email/RSS readers)

All About Reloading – 76

Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 1:06:19 — 45.5MB) | EmbedSubscribe: Android | Google Podcasts | RSS | MoreFinally, after much ado, I bought a reloading press this week. It’s a Lee Value Turret, and yes, I know it’s not a Dillon. It’ll get me started reloading, and the price was right. This week we decided to go through the steps of reloading, from picking up a piece of brass from the range, …
