Preparedness

National Preparedness Month

We’re getting a late start here at Triangle Tactical, but I’ve got a lot of emergency preparedness content heading your way for the rest of the month. Remember, it’s still hurricane season, and we haven’t had a single storm even come close to the US yet. You should be ready for anything the atlantic could throw at us, and if you aren’t, you should get ready ASAP. Keep your eyes here on the blog for …

OPSEC: Guns in Your Vehicle

With North Carolina House Bill 937 becoming law in 2 months, there will be a lot more people leaving firearms locked in their vehicles where they previously could not have them. Criminals are pretty good at looking at a vehicle and determining whether or not it’s a good target for a smash and grab, and they aren’t stupid, even though many of us would like to think that they are. Take an objective look at …

First Responders

I had a conversation with a co-worker yesterday while watching the media coverage of the devastation left from the OK tornado. He could hardly sit still watching it, and I’m pretty sure if someone would have told him there was a plane waiting to take him to Oklahoma, he would have jumped in without hesitation. He told me about how some people that he knows from his other job put in for vacation time after …

Interview With Massad Ayoob

No, not the Triangle Tactical Podcast, but Mr. Jack Spirko over at The Survival Podcast did a great interview last week with Massad Ayoob. If you aren’t sure who Massad Ayoob is, you’ve probably been living under a rock for the last 30 years, or you are very new to firearms. Either way, I really enjoyed the interview, and I would recommend that you give it a listen. Over the years, I’ve learned massive amounts …

Pocket Knives Now Approved for Flight by TSA

Earlier this week the TSA has announced that they will begin to allow certain pocket knives on flights. The restrictions placed on knives are as follows: Blade length less than 6cm Blade width less than 1/2″ at widest point No “molded handles” No locking blades They have released this handy infographic showing what is, and what isn’t allowed: So, what does that mean? Basically, the way I see it, the TSA has found a way …

5 Things to Keep in Your Car in Case of an Emergency

Last week on the Triangle Tactical Podcast, I spoke about being a ‘Man of Action’, and taking action in an emergency situation instead of hoping that someone else will jump in and help. Just stopping and offering help is all that is needed in many situations, but there are a few simple things that you can have in your vehicle that could help save a life in an emergency situation. 1. Glass Breaker. Having something …

Gunpowder Tinder

First things first: This could be dangerous. I’m an expert outdoors man with years of experience. Don’t try this at home. I recently was introduced to a product that is made for pulling bullets out of casings so that the gunpowder can be poured out and used as a form of tinder in an emergency situation. I was left scratching my head, as I was under the impression that gunpowder would flash pretty quickly instead …

Triangle Tactical Geocache (Free Swag!)

This week I introduced Geocaching, and talked a bit about the different containers you may be looking for when trying to locate a cache. This morning I geared up, and headed out to one of my favorite places in the triangle, and hid a Geocache with some Triangle Tactical swag in it. You can find the coordinates to the cache here: GC1V46Z Geocaching.com You are looking for a .30cal Ammo can, that I may or …

Geocache Containers

Yesterday I introduced Geocaching, and talked about what it is. Today I want to be a little more specific, and talk about the containers that you may come across when hunting a cache. If you are going to head out into the woods looking for something, it might be a good idea to at least have some clue what you are looking for. When it comes to Geocaches, you could be looking for something bigger …
