Is it okay to compromise on a CCW gun, if you’ll actually carry it?

Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 8:22 — 3.8MB) | EmbedSubscribe: Android | RSS | MoreBen in Fayetteville sends in today’s Q&A voicemail asking about whether or not it’s alright to compromise on a concealed carry gun if you’ll actually carry the gun you choose. I think so, and it’s what I practice in the summer months. I’d love to be able to comfortably carry a Glock 19 IWB in 100* weather, but …

Stepping Up Your CCW Rig in Wake of Terrorist Threats?

Am I the only person that has went back to a doublestack “wonder 9” for CCW after hearing about the recent al qaeda ISIS threats to behead people in the streets, and the Sydney siege incident where people were held hostage in a cafe until it was stormed by police? There’s something much more comforting about having 16 rounds on my hip, with 15 more in a reload than there is with my previous 8 …

Glock 19 Concealed Carry Modifications

As you probably know, I recently picked up a Gen4 Glock 19 as a new concealed carry pistol. I wanted to go back to a doublestack gun, and I also wanted something that was very similar to my Glock 34 that I shoot in competition. I don’t tend to make a lot of modifications to my carry pistols, but I’ve done a couple things to the Glock 19: Custom Grip Plug Funnel Glock pistols have …

It’s Not the Gun, It’s the Shooter

When talking to people about getting into competitive shooting, a common thing I hear it’s that they need to go buy a new gun before they get started. In a vast majority of cases though, they currently have a gun and gear that’s more than good enough to start. Case in point: The Wake County Action Pistol Matches Last Monday we shot the exact same stages that we shot on Wednesday. I shot Monday with …

Buying Glocks is Fun

At the gun store: “Hey, y’all have any Gen4 Glock 19s in stock?” “Yeah” “Cool, give me the paperwork.” “Uhhh, don’t you want to see it?” “Nah, it’s a Glock.” “…I love customers like you.”

New Glock 9mm Released

But it’s not what you’re thinking. TFB is reporting that Glock has released a G19c with a Gen4 frame. Yep. Next year the big announcement will probably be the 23c Gen4, then the Glock 20 extended slide compensated model on a Gen2 frame in OD green. Sigh.

Evolution of Concealed Carry – Going Bigger!

I’ve been taking concealed carry seriously for almost 5 years now, and in that time I’ve carried a lot of different pistols. Some have stuck around longer than others, but for the most part, I’ve carried a Glock 19, with either a S&W J-frame, or Kel-Tec PF-9 as a smaller option. Recently I pulled my old Glock 17 out of the safe, and began dry-firing with it. I’d forgotten how much I loved the Glock …

Concealed Carry

In this post, I want to cover some points on concealed carry. With 49 states now allowing some form of concealed carry for citizens, and more and more passing “shall issue” laws every year, concealed carry of firearms has swept the nation. Americans are no longer allowing themselves to be victimized, and are instead standing their ground, and defending themselves from those who wish to do them harm. I’ve been carrying a concealed handgun for …
