Is anyone else getting sick and tired of seeing cobbled together AR-15’s for sale with tag lines like this? Time and again I check local gun classifieds and see several of these piece of junk franken guns, with all sorts of cheap crap gear screwed onto every section of rail possible, magwell grips, lights, lasers, bottle openers, etc. All asking for a premium price because they were supposedly built by a “delta force operator” or Navy Seal, or some other high speed, low drag operator.
The most recent one that popped up was a DPMS lower “i think it was gutted and replaced with other parts” and unknown 16″ carbine upper with the heaviest bull barrel I have ever seen, and of course it is topped off with an airsoft quad rail, and a giant scope. All yours for $1,100. You know, because a Navy Seal built it. Give me a break!
$1,100. What a joke.
Last time I checked, a new Colt 6920 goes for less than $1,100. Of course, those aren’t built by Delta Force operators, just people who assemble high quality rifles for a living.
Even if someone could prove that the rifle WAS built by an operator, that doesn’t help their case. These HSLD guys are trained to kill people efficiently, not build rifles. Certainly most of them are probably quite intimate with their weapon of choice, but I’d still rather have a rifle assembled by someone who assembles rifles for a living, and I’ll let the HSLD guys do what they do.
