Ohio Legislators Introduce Bill to Neuter Concealed Carry

Ohio legislators have introduced a bill that would make it illegal to carry concealed in a private place without permission from the owner. So instead of letting businesses post that they do not allow concealed carry, businesses would be required to post that they do allow concealed carry. Pretty bass-ackwards if you ask me! West Nile Virus Outbreak 2012

Has anyone else been following this? As someone who spends a good amount of time in the outdoors, I’ve been monitoring this situation over the past couple of weeks. With over 1,100 cases reported nation wide, and over 40 deaths, this is definitely something to be aware of. This morning the CDC announced that this current outbreak is the largest ever recorded. Texas seems to be the epicenter of the outbreak, but 47 of the …

IDPA at ‘The Range’ in Oxford, NC 8/13/12

On Sunday, August 13, 2012 I headed up to The Range in Oxford, NC for their IDPA match. The Range is hosting two of the big three IDPA matches this year, being the Carolina Cup, and the 2012 IDPA Nationals. Frank Glover, the owner of The Range always puts on a good match, and Sunday was no exception. The stages were very technical requiring the shooter to think, as well as some challenging shots. We …

“Built by a Delta Force Operator”

Is anyone else getting sick and tired of seeing cobbled together AR-15’s for sale with tag lines like this? Time and again I check local gun classifieds and see several of these piece of junk franken guns, with all sorts of cheap crap gear screwed onto every section of rail possible, magwell grips, lights, lasers, bottle openers, etc. All asking for a premium price because they were supposedly built by a “delta force operator” or …

Dawson +5 Glock Magazine Extensions

I’ve been running several of the Dawson +5 Glock magazine extensions on some mags for my Glock 24 Limited gun for about a year or so. These magazine extensions are everything one could want in an extension. They are robust, well made, and they function well. These magazine extensions are made out of aluminum unlike many of the other extensions on the market that are made of plastic. I have found them to be extremely …

The Colorado tragedy, and the drumbeat for gun control.

First things first, I feel awful for those affected by this shooting. I cannot imagine how terrible it must feel to lose a loved one to a crazy person. The newest news reports are reporting that this subject was dressed as the Joker character from Batman, and told authorities that he was in fact the Joker. Obviously this person has some sort of mental issue going on, and that in my opinion must be what …

WRAL news puts CCW holders on a searchable database.

I was made aware of this article this morning via Carolina Shooters Club. Basically, WRAL news published an article about concealed carry, and then they added at the bottom of the article a search box that allows one to search the database of concealed carry permit holders in NC by address. Sure, the names of permit holders are public record, but getting ahold of these records, and adding them to a publicly searchable database is …
