Washington DC is the only place in the US where microstamping is required other than California. As I reported yesterday, both Ruger and Smith & Wesson are allowing many of their firearms to fall off of the “not unsafe” handgun list in California. The California State Senate voted today to pass more gun control. 8 bills in total,  all of which closing “loopholes” in the current laws. Most notably, this package of bills creates a registry for ammo purchasers, and requires background checks to buy ammo. Democrat Kevin De Leon’s SB53, which would require background checks and licensing for all ammunition purchases, and store information about who’s buying bullets in a state database.
