California Gov. Jerry Brown Vetoes Anti-Gun Bill

Whoa. This is rather surprising given Brown’s willingness to sign all of the other anti-gun bills that have been sent his way. DC on the Heels of California with Microstamping

Washington DC is the only place in the US where microstamping is required other than California. As I reported yesterday, both Ruger and Smith & Wesson are allowing many of their firearms to fall off of the “not unsafe” handgun list in California. On Sunday Ben and I talked about how Ruger is ceasing to sell all semi-automatic handguns in California due to their microstamping law (that as far as we can tell still isn’t in effect). If you live in California, it’s time to leave.

The California State Senate voted today to pass more gun control. 8 bills in total,  all of which closing “loopholes” in the current laws. Most notably, this package of bills creates a registry for ammo purchasers, and requires background checks to buy ammo. Democrat Kevin De Leon’s SB53, which would require background checks and licensing for all ammunition purchases, and store information about who’s buying bullets in a state database.
