A couple weeks back while Ben, Sean, and I were at the range doing the pocket 9mm shootout, another friend was also at the range, and he let me play with a couple of his new CZ toys. First I shot his SP-01, and it was really nice. Later he pulled out his CZ P-02, and I put a few rounds through that too.
ERRMAGHERRRD!
I’ve played with a CZ P-01 in the past, and as far as I can tell, the only difference between the P-01 and the P-02 is that the P-02 has the CZ Omega trigger. The cool thing about the Omega trigger is that it allows the pistol to be switched easily from a decocker to a safety. I’d probably keep the decocker, but it’s always fun to have options to play with.
I’ve got somewhat big hands, and this pistol is just big enough to fill my grip, and nothing more. I’ve been wanting to play around with a DA/SA pistol for some time now, and I think this may be just the ticket.
I love the CZ line. I carry a P-07 and compete with a SP-01 Shadow. I agree that the ergonomics of this gun does seem to fit many shooters hands really well. I would recommend taking a look at the p-07 and p-09 models along with the p-02. All three have the Omega system in them. Thanks for the review.
I’ve played with the P-07 and 09, they are nice, but they just don’t do it for me like the P-02 does.
I am a massive CZ fan. I buy CZ’s like some people buy 1911s. The P-02 is an amazing gun, right out of the box a good shooter.
My favorite CZ is probably my 75B SA, which is the single action only version of the full size 75. If I carried full size, it would be that gun cocked and locked.
My only wish for CZ is that they try their hand at the single-stack “wonder 9” category, like the XDs or my own M&P Shield. With a slide that rides inside the frame and a completely metal structure, a “CZs” would be my dream carry piece.
Yeah, I could see myself going nuts with the CZ pistols. I’d like an SP-01 for USPSA Production, and a P -02 for occasional carry. I’d definitely be interested in a XDs sized CZ.
Hey Lucas, If you ever want to run the P-02 again, just let met know…happy to let you take it for a spin during a match. This is one of my all-time favorites and while the DA is so-so, the single action is amazing as you found out!
I love spending time oogling CZ-75B models in brushed stainless…..and S&W E Series 1911s, but for now, budget dictates I stick with my M&P compact, which I do love also, but looking at that CZ is another level. Sigh….
