Last week I told you about Magpul threatening to leave Colorado if there was a ban passed on high capacity magazines. This week, Beretta has joined the fight, threatening to leave Maryland if they pass any measures that would make it illegal for citizens to own their products.
The Washington Post interviewed Jeffrey Reh, the general counsel for Beretta.
“Why expand in a place where the people who built the gun couldn’t buy it?” said Jeffrey Reh, general counsel for Beretta.
It seems that there is only one thing that gets to politicians on both sides of the aisle these days, and that is jobs. Mr. Reh seems to know this, and hopefully those in charge at Beretta will follow through with their decision, should it come to that.
Earlier this month, many in the Colorado legislature believed that Magpul was bluffing when they were threatening to pack up and leave CO if a “high capacity” magazine ban was put into place. The same thing is happening in MD, and Mr. Reh has one thing to say about it:
“I think they thought we were bluffing” in the 1990s, Reh said. “But Berettas don’t bluff.”
