Early this morning there was a shooting right here in Wake Co. The story is that two men knocked on the door to a home around 1:45am, a 13 year old female answered the door, and she was shot. The subjects then entered the residence and shot the girls father as well.
I don’t want to Monday morning quarterback this too much, but some serious mistakes were made here that we should all learn from. It’s not just this news story either, from time to time on web forums or in conversations with people, someone will talk about having someone knock on their door late and night, and they mention retrieving their pistol before answering the door.
If you don’t know who is at the door, don’t answer it.
I don’t have all of the details of this situation, but the fact that someone was knocking on the door at 1:45am, and it was answered by a 13 year old female is no good.
Talk to your kids, and teach them that under no circumstances should they answer the door unless you are supervising them. In this same situation this girl could have been easily kidnapped, and who knows what may have happened to her.
I don’t know who said it originally, but “Nothing good happens after midnight” applies here.
True. Good points.
