After a recent spike of violent crime in rural Harnett County, NC, Sheriff Rollins is urging citizens to arm themselves.
“When I am out with my family, even though I am a cop, I don’t go anywhere without a gun,” Rollins told the crowd. “I mean it’s sad we have to have that attitude, but I am going to protect myself and my family. I want my deputies at your house just as fast as they can when you got a problem, but you better be able to take care of business until we get there if you have to protect your family.”
An honest cop. He realizes that his officers can’t instantly be at the scene of a crime. I don’t have specifics on response times in Harnett County, but in rural areas often times police officers are working ridiculously large beats.
I do feel the need to point out the fact that the Sheriff is allowed to carry in a whole lot of places where the rest of us are not legally able to. I’d like to hear Sheriff Rollins thoughts on expanding where armed citizens are able to carry.
Are you able to “take care of business” until they arrive?
