DIY MOLLE Clip

While getting some stuff around last night for this weekends Trace Armory Group pistol/carbine class, I wanted to add a small “boo boo kit” to my HSGI Suregrip belt. Low and behold I did not have any MOLLE locks, or other MOLLE attachment pieces around the house. I came up with a really stupid simple solution, that is easy to weave, easy to make, and easy to detach. It is so simple in fact, that …

KCI Glock Magazines

Some time ago, I purchased 6 KCI Glock 17 magazines to try out. I’d read that they were made for the Korean military, and were good to go. I purchased 6 of these magazines because of their low price point at the time hoping that the old “you get what you pay for” adage would not ring true for these magazines. The magazines arrived packaged individually in brown paper bags. The outside of the KCI …

Shooting Glasses fogging up?

I always wear a hat while shooting to keep brass from hitting me in the face, and to guard against having a piece of hot brass come in between my glasses, and my eyeball. In the summer here in NC it gets quite hot, and I have found that my hat + safety glasses combination leads to fogged up glasses, which leads me to slide the glasses away from my face, which is not safe. …

North Carolina House Bill 111 – Action Needed

There is a bill that we have been fighting for since last year that is in risk of being lost in committee in the NC Senate. House Bill 111 is a bill that will allow residents in NC with a valid Concealed Handgun License to carry in restaurants that serve alcohol. It seems that most restaurants I find myself eating st serve some sort of alcoholic beverages, even if they do not have a bar. …

It just doesn’t fit my hand – Rant.

Ok, this is something I hear over and over again from people trying to justify why they do not like a particular pistol. It is generally directed toward Glock pistols, as well as some others. Anyone who has gripped a Glock knows that it feels similar to a 2×4 in your hand. I get it, I own several of the things, and the feeling of the grip in my hand has nothing to do with …

Competition pistol sights – What works, and what doesn’t.

One topic that has a lot of contention among competition shooters is the type of sights they like to use on their competition firearms. When shooting just about any type of pistol competition the sights on the pistol are nearly as important as the pistol itself. Competition sights, especially for action shooting games need to be quick to pick up, durable, and accurate. I originally got into competition shooting using the sights that came standard …

Tarheel 3-gun Challenge

Yesterday I headed down to New Hill, NC and observed a few stages of the Tarheel 3-gun Challenge. This match is the first of its kind in our area, and it appears that it was a huge success. The Tarheel 3-gun Challenge is a match that tested all aspects of a shooters skills. Tricky pistol shots, long rifle shots (out to 400 yards), and some rather tricky shotgun stages with long slug shots, and lots …

Thanks.

Just wants to take a moment and say thanks to all who have served our great country. Without men willing to lay down their lives for freedom we would be the country we are today. Remember those who have died for our great nation from the men who fought at Lexington and Concord, to the men currently serving around the world. I would like to extend a heart felt thank-you to all of you. When …
