HB17 Passed the House

Earlier today, House Bill 17 (the bill that formerly contained a restaurant carry provision) was overwhelmingly passed in the NC State House on a 97-20 vote. While I wish this bill still contained the restaurant carry provision, this is still a big win for gun owners in NC. This bill makes the records of pistol purchase permits, and concealed carry permits confidential. The bill will now be sent over to the State Senate, where I …

NC Restaurant Carry Bill Killed by House Leadership

This morning the NC House Judiciary Committee met to discuss House Bill 17, which is the bill containing restaurant carry, and a provision making concealed carry, and pistol purchase permit records private. Strangely, the bill showed up to committee missing the restaurant carry portion of the bill. It appears that house leadership (Allegedly Speaker Thom Tillis) asked for that portion of the bill to be removed, and it was. The confidentiality part was apparently well …

What Are Your Thoughts on This? (Castle Doctrine Discussion)

Earlier tonight, this article linked on another website I frequent. I was surprised by the responses from some of those who commented. I’d be interested to hear your take on it, whether the homeowner was in the right, or if some other sort of intervention should have been taken. Article credit: Claudine Zap – The Lookout A 16-year-old who lived in Loudoun County, Va., was shot and killed when he accidentally entered the wrong house. …

Colorado Magazine Capacity Legislation (HB 1224)

As you surely know, the state of Colorado has passed some legislation in both houses that will limit magazine capacity to 15 rounds in the state (HB 1224). Many are claiming that this law is poorly written, and that it will have many “unintended consequences.” After watching the video below ask yourself: is it written poorly, or is it written exactly the way the gun grabbers wanted it written? It seems to me that this …

Feinstein’s “Assault Weapon” Ban Advances

Yesterday, Sen. Diane Feinstein’s ludicrous “Assault Weapon” ban passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on a 10-8 party line vote. I’m hearing from many in our community that they are “confident that it won’t pass the House”. I’m not so confident. I don’t think that we should rely on our last possible roadblock to stop this ridiculous legislation. Instead, we need to be vigilant in calling, writing, and emailing our Senators this week. Here in NC …

Have Any Questions About Competitive Shooting?

Earlier today I posed a question to the Facebook audience, asking what questions they have about competitive shooting, so we can answer them on the next episode of the Triangle Tactical Podcast. In just a couple hours, I’ve received quite a few really good questions, so I figured I’d ask the question over here on the site as well. So, what questions do you have about competitive shooting? Maybe you have never shot a match …

Magpul launches “Boulder Airlift” Program

As mentioned last week, Magpul has come out with a program which they are now calling the “Boulder Airlift” in order to get PMAGS into the hands of law abiding Colorado citizens before their rights to own them are taken away by an oppressive state government. Magpul is proud to announce the “Boulder Airlift”, our program to make sure that responsible Colorado citizens have the opportunity to own standard capacity PMAGs prior to the potential …

“…but Berettas don’t bluff”

Last week I told you about Magpul threatening to leave Colorado if there was a ban passed on high capacity magazines. This week, Beretta has joined the fight, threatening to leave Maryland if they pass any measures that would make it illegal for citizens to own their products. The Washington Post interviewed Jeffrey Reh, the general counsel for Beretta. “Why expand in a place where the people who built the gun couldn’t buy it?” said …
