Last year I posted my thoughts on the excellent G-Code INCOG holster for my Springfield XDs 9mm. When I reviewed the holster initially I didn’t have the on board mag caddy, and I feel that the holster+mag caddy deserves it’s own review because it’s different with the attached mag caddy. Full Disclosure: The folks at G-Code generously provided me with the mag caddy for this review. Before the INCOG mag caddy arrived I’d never held …

The wife and I are night owls on the weekends. Saturday nights for us generally entail going out somewhat late at night and gassing up the cars for the week, grocery shopping, and whatever else we decide to go do. Before I get into tonight’s story, let me say that I know the old addage “nothing good happens after midnight”, but I tend not to abide by it very often. Tonight we set out late …

WDAM in Mississippi is reporting that a Lumberton, MS convience store manager was stabbed by a subject while working at the store. A witness who was in the store who had a concealed carry permit took off after the subject, and held him at gunpoint until police arrived. I commend the person for taking action, but I’m not sure I’d want to be the guy holding the gun when the police arrive. Not to Monday …

A bill introduced in Michigan this week will allow special carry privileges for victims of violent crime. But, under a piece of legislation just introduced by a Saginaw Township lawmaker, victims of domestic violence or stalking would be given special permission to carry a concealed weapons in those “gun-free” zones. Right after Christmas John Filippidis, a Florida resident, with a Florida concealed carry permit was traveling back to Florida from New Jersey with his family. As he passed into Maryland he was tailed, and finally pulled over by a Maryland Port Authority police officer, who then demanded to see his gun. Filippidis didn’t bring his gun, because as a law abiding gun owner he knew that he couldn’t carry it in hostile New Jersey and …

This is great news! More people being allowed to carry concealed always reduces crime. It’s unfortunate that more elected officials in other places don’t feel the way David Wood, the chairman of the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners does: “It’s a big deal when it comes to Second Amendment rights and county commissioners don’t have any business doing legislation at a local level with such important issues,” he said.

I know, I know, concealed carry permits, or Concealed Handgun Permits as North Carolina calls them, are for the most dedicated shooters, the people who want to be armed 24/7 (except anywhere alcohol is sold and consumed, or anywhere that charges admission, or …) but bear with me! I’m not saying it’s for everyone, but for completely new shooters looking for an entry in to the hobby, I think it could make some sense. But …

In this post, I want to cover some points on concealed carry. With 49 states now allowing some form of concealed carry for citizens, and more and more passing “shall issue” laws every year, concealed carry of firearms has swept the nation. Americans are no longer allowing themselves to be victimized, and are instead standing their ground, and defending themselves from those who wish to do them harm. I’ve been carrying a concealed handgun for …
