SC Gov. Nikki Haley to sign Restaurant Carry Bill at 10:30AM

This is exciting news for our friends in South Carolina! Gov. Haley has announced that she will be signing the S308 into law at 10:30AM. SC S308 will allow for concealed carry in restaurants that serve alcohol, as well as speeding up permit times for LEO’s and former military personnel who have had prior training (which I’m not sure I agree with). The bill also strengthens the penalties for CCW permit holders who violate “no …

Within the past 10 minutes or so, both the NC House, and the NC Senate have fast tracked, and passed the conference committee’s version of HB937. Just about an hour ago the conference committee’s version of the bill was released, and as far as I can tell, but bill left the committee in almost the exact form that it left the Senate, with only the Pistol Purchase Permit elimination provision being removed from the bill, …

HB17 Passed the House

Earlier today, House Bill 17 (the bill that formerly contained a restaurant carry provision) was overwhelmingly passed in the NC State House on a 97-20 vote. While I wish this bill still contained the restaurant carry provision, this is still a big win for gun owners in NC. This bill makes the records of pistol purchase permits, and concealed carry permits confidential. The bill will now be sent over to the State Senate, where I …

NC Restaurant Carry Bill Killed by House Leadership

This morning the NC House Judiciary Committee met to discuss House Bill 17, which is the bill containing restaurant carry, and a provision making concealed carry, and pistol purchase permit records private. Strangely, the bill showed up to committee missing the restaurant carry portion of the bill. It appears that house leadership (Allegedly Speaker Thom Tillis) asked for that portion of the bill to be removed, and it was. The confidentiality part was apparently well …

North Carolina House Bill 17

North Carolina House Bill 17 was filed today. This bill is being called the “Gun permits/restaurants & confidentiality” bill. First and foremost, this will addresses the draconian NC concealed carry law that forbids permit holders from carrying firearms in restaurants that serve alcohol. The rest of the bill covers confidentiality concerning pistol permits in NC, basically making it so the travesty that happened in NY with the newspaper posting a map of legal gun owners …
