Hornady Tap FPD 124gr 9mm

Ok, not a review, but I thought this was odd.

Picked up a couple 20rd boxes of Hornady Tap FPD 124gr 9mm yesterday. Left them sealed until today, and when I opened them up, I was surprised to find that they actually contain 25 rounds, when the box is clearly labeled 20. Odd.

Anyways, I’ve carried Hornady Critical Defense in the past, and these are loaded with the same FTX bullet, minus the little red plastic bit placed into the critical defense rounds. The FTX is an aging design, but has a good reputation for reliable expansion, and penetration. With the critical defense rounds, I found that they loaded very easily, and always chambered without issue due to the conical shape of the bullet, and I expect to find the same with the Tap FPD.

I generally carry a +P or +P+ round, but I’m going to give this stuff a shot and see what I think. When I add in the extra 5 rounds of ammo, it isn’t really any more expensive than any other quality defensive round out there.
