Democrat Support for Colorado ‘Hi-Cap’ Magazine Ban Repeal

A bill was introduced in Colorado yesterday to rollback the 15rd magazine capacity limit and some other garbage that was passed in the state last year. It seems like all of the good pieces of legislation are extremely short, and this bill is no different at just 2 pages.

The Colorado House is currently sitting at 37 Democrats, and 28 Republicans. The Senate Democrats are only outnumbering the Republicans by one seat after the recalls and resignation of 3 Democrat Senators.

When digging in past the surface text of the bill, we find that it has 100% Republican sponsorship in the House, but it appears that one Democrat State Senator, Lois Tochtrop has broken ranks with the rest of the party, and is not only in support of the bill, but she is listed as a co-sponsor.

A Democrat Senator who is up for re-election later this year who isn’t afraid to see her name listed as a co-sponsor on a pro-gun bill? I think that may be good news for the people of Colorado. How many more will pull the lever in support of this bill silently without much fanfare?

Keep the heat on your legislators, Colorado. It’s working.
