The Perfect Deer Rifle? Ruger American Ranch

Last week Ruger announced a couple of new rifles in their American Rifle lineup. The new rifles are called the American Rifle Ranch series, and they are available in .223/5.56 and .300 Blackout.

Something about a short, handy, .300BLK bolt action rifle that weighs under 6lbs screams at me that it’s the perfect deer rifle for the little NC deer we have around here. Couple that with the law changing last fall to allow hunting with a suppressor in our state, and I think this thing is a winner.

I’ve got a couple guns in the safe that never get shot, and I’m seriously considering trading them in for one of these. Add a sling and a red-dot, and I’d be ready to roll for any buck inside of 100y.

Check out the full spec sheet here. What do you think?

  1. For Pete’s sake. Against white tail? It’s almost cheating. Just kidding, looks like an awesome deer gun. Taken lots of white tail in upstate NY with a Marlin 336 since, well, pre-internet days. This ~$400 rifle in 300 BLK can hardly be less effective. 🙂

  2. Wish they would offer 6.8 spc.
