5 Years Ago Yesterday, I Shot My First IDPA Match

I did not have a good time, apparently.

I don’t remember why I had a bad time but I think the lesson here is that I still shoot IDPA, and I like it for what it is.

  1. I still shoot IDPA, and I like it for what it is.

Yeah, but what if it too often is old guys bickering about rules? About 100 minutes drive from my house there is an “official” IDPA match that is often fun (they have good stages, lots of props), but has also been marred by 15 minute delays while people argue about rules.

(Just shoot the damned thing, count the holes, and move on!)

When I have other choices, I’ve been skipping it. Ultimately, the guy running the match had The Talk with the two shooters most responsible, and I understand one is now banned. So maybe I’ll go back.

I will say that kind of thing can really turn of a newbie in a hurry (as you experienced). Still think my local club’s “Outlaw Action Pistol” match the best way to go.
