Ultimate Shield Project: Reliability Testing

After running into issues with my Springfield XDs 9mm not liking certain JHP rounds, I decided that before I do any further with the Ultimate Shield Project I should get it to the range, and run a whole bunch of different defensive loads through it. It was an expensive night at the range, but I successfully fed the Shield a whole bunch of the following ammo: Hornady Critical Defense 115gr Hornady Critical Duty 135gr Federal …

Guns America Has an Upgraded XDs

Guns America is reporting that the trigger on their upgraded XDs is about 8oz heavier than the previous trigger. Apparently their shooters couldn’t feel the difference, but they were able to measure it with a gauge. I’m not getting my hopes up, but I’m getting my hopes up.

Saturday Night SERPA Talk

It’s been beaten to death all across the webbernetz and I’ve purposely avoided the issue for some time now. I’m here to say it: SERPA holsters are dangerous. Ive owned one, and used it extensively in competition and training over several months. On more than one occasion I’ve attempted to draw the pistol, and I’ve been unsuccessful on the first try. This results in me pushing the pistol down in the holster, and pushing the …

Sunday Listening with Some Reading Too

So, I’ve been meaning to listen to this super old episode of The Survival Podcast for a while, where Jack Spirko dives into ballistics, and explains things really awesomely. You should check it out. This is just cool: Pin-up girl nose art on an AR-15. I’d totally add something like this to my game gun. Pro-gun folks are calling their representatives 5x as much as the antis? Orly? Certainly 90% of Americans want gun control …

SCOTUS To Hear Straw Purchase Case

This should be pretty interesting. It seems that the practical definition of what a straw purchase is, and how it is applied in the real world is something that many gun owners have questions about. WASHINGTON (AP) – The Supreme Court will decide whether a Virginia man should have been convicted of being a “straw purchaser” after buying a gun in-state and selling it to his uncle in Pennsylvania. The high court on Tuesday agreed …

Ultimate Shield Project

Introducing the Ultimate S&W Shield Project! Over the next couple of months I’m going to be addressing some things on the S&W Shield to make it the best concealed carry pistol that it can be. Some of the things that I’ll be addressing: Reliability: First things first, I want to make sure the pistol will eat any and all of the defensive loads I can get my hands on. Trigger pull: The trigger on the …

This Is Why You Don’t Eff Around At The Range [Graphic Video]

I’ve heard people complain that range officers at a certain shooting range in the area can be too… intense. Well, this is why: A 12yr old Russian boy, “playing around” while his comrades were down range re-setting targets, shoots and kills one of them. This is why a Range Officer will scream at you if you go reaching for your gun, or anything near it when the range is cold. It’s because he’s trying to …

Facebook Contest Complete!

Y’all guessed really low! Maybe it was my (lack of) photography skills that made the barrel look less dirty than it actually was. Either way, Kevin V. won the contest, and will be receiving some Triangle Tactical stickers! Post by Triangle Tactical.

Breaking Bread Cafe, Canton, NC likes Guns

I was just made aware that Breaking Bread Cafe in Canton, NC is gun friendly. Not only is it being reported that they OK with your concealed carry permit, they are offering a free drink with your order when you show your permit! This is awesome! In a time when many restaurants around the state are posting anti-gun signs, it’s refreshing to see some support on our side. I unfortunately don’t make it out to …
