Gander Mountain Morrisville, NC

This morning while running some errands, I decided to head over to the new Gander Mountain store that opened last week in Morrisville, NC. This store is located in the new Park West shopping center in Morrisville, near the intersection of 54 and Cary Parkway. Guns and Ammo: I pulled in a little before noon, to find the parking lot packed. As soon as I got inside, I was astonished with the amount of firearms …

Update from Dicks Sporting Goods Regarding Citizenship Question for Ammo Purchases.

Last week you may remember I wrote an article about how Dicks Sporting Goods has instituted a policy of asking for someone’s citizenship status when selling ammunition. I contacted Dicks customer service regarding this issue last week and below is the response I received from the customer service person: Hi Lucas, Thank you for contacting DICK’S Sporting Goods. ccwsupply.biz

Some time ago, I placed an order with www.ccwsupply.biz for a Ross leather pocket holster for my Kel-Tec PF-9. After placing the order, I was immediately sent a reply stating that the lead time on the order could be upwards of 8 weeks. This was not acceptable to me, so I looked into cancelling the order, so I could go buy another holster somewhere else. What I found was that ccwsupply.biz would charge a $60 …

Wake County Firearms Education and Training Center

After posting some videos, and write ups about the matches at the Wake County Firearms Education and Training Center, I have had a few questions about the range, who operates it, where it is located, etc. I hear time and time again on the web forums that there isn’t anywhere to shoot a rifle in the Triangle area. This is 100% false. Wake County operates a large indoor firing range called the Wake County Firearms …

Carolina Gunrunners Grand Opening

After the C&E gun show today, we headed over to Carolina Gunrunners for their Grand Opening celebration. These guys continue to amaze me with their willingness to take feedback, and carry the items that their customers want. They have been soliciting feedback from area shooters on local shooting web forums, and shooters were telling them that they wanted a shop that carried reloading supplies. CGR wasn’t originally planning to carry reloading supplies, but they took …

C&E Gun and Knife Show – Raleigh, NC Feb 25th, 2012

A couple of us stopped by the C&E gun and knife show this morning, looking for some AK accessories, ammo, and mags for a friends SAR-1. This was a smaller gun show, located in the Expo building at the State Fairgrounds, not the larger Jim Graham building. I was pretty disappointed in this show. Gun prices looked to be about 10-15% more than the last Dixie show, and ammo prices were creeping up as well. …

Custom Molded Ear Plugs – E.A.R. Inc.

I stopped at the last Dixie Gun show in Raleigh, and had a pair of custom molded ear plugs made by Lenny Kahn of Ear Inc. The process for getting them made was pretty simple. Lenny had me sit on a stool, and he places a small piece of cotton in the ear to keep the earplug away from the ear drum, and then he just squirts in the ear plug material, and lets it …

Carolina Gunrunners

I had a chance to stop by Carolina Gunrunners in North Raleigh today for their “quiet opening”. I have known some of the owners/employees for some time, and was invited to swing by today and check out their new store before they officially open to the public. I stopped by about 4:00pm after attending a Carolina Shooters Club lunch with some forum members at a local restaurant. WOW. First impression: Quiet opening, not very quiet. …
