New Marine Corps Pistol Training

Multiple targets? time limits? reloads on the clock? It must be a shooting sport, right? Wrong. It’s the Marine Corps new pistol training program. I didn’t serve, so I’m not exactly sure what the old qualification program was like, but it’s good to see them getting a little more focused on faster shooting, and less focused on long distance precision shooting with the pistol. I’d like to hear from the vets out there, what do …

Don’t Answer The Door

Early this morning there was a shooting right here in Wake Co. The story is that two men knocked on the door to a home around 1:45am, a 13 year old female answered the door, and she was shot. The subjects then entered the residence and shot the girls father as well. I don’t want to Monday morning quarterback this too much, but some serious mistakes were made here that we should all learn from. …

Glenn Beck Buys “Hot Shots” and “3-Gun Nation”

I must have turned the radio on in my office at just the right time this morning, as I don’t usually listen to Glenn Beck unless I’m caught up on podcast listening. Anyways, when I tuned in, Beck was talking about how these gun related TV shows (Hot Shots, and 3-Gun Nation) had been cancelled after Sandy Hook, because NBC decided they didn’t want anything to do with them anymore. Beck bought them, and will …

Newtown Starbucks Closed for Appreciation Event

The ‘Starbucks Appreciation Day’ event that was planned at the Newtown, CT Starbucks on Friday didn’t happen. The anti-gun zealots threw a temper tantrum and decided to protest the Pro-gun group. I can’t really blame the antis for organizing a counter protest, because here in the Triangle we love giving antis a good southern welcome whenever they come to town. Here’s the message posted on the Starbucks Blog: Dear Customers, At Starbucks we are proud …

Belated Starbucks Appreciation Day Meetup

Well, it’s that time of year again, today is Starbucks Appreciation Day. I’m not sure who organizes this, but it’s nice to see a company not bowing to pressure from the anti’s, and their coffee is alright too. I’d love to get a cup of coffee on the actual Starbucks Appreciation Day, but unfortunately I have to go to work. Here’s the deal: Saturday, 8/10/2013 at 11:00am Starbucks  6716 Falls Of The Neuse Rd Raleigh, …

Drinking and Carrying

Recently Illinois passed a concealed carry law that allows for restaurant carry. This happened right around the same time that HB937 was passed in NC which will also allow for carrying a concealed handgun in an establishment where alcohol is sold and consumed. The anti-gun media is having a field day with this in both states, which we expected would happen. What I didn’t expect was that so many people would spread blatant untruths about …

Gun Geo Marker provokes the pro-gun community, as it was designed to

The “Gun Geo Marker” app that we mentioned on Episode 38 popped up on my radar again today when Luke posted a link to an article where the NRA-ILA, bless their hearts, and a Missouri state senator are trying to petition Google to remove the app from the Play Store (their version of Apple’s “App store”): Google recently released the Gun Geo Marker app which was misguidedly designed to encourage users to “geolocate dangerous guns …

McCrory Signs HB937 into Law…

… but I think he’s confused about the bill. According to a press release on his website, he says the following: “This legislation prohibits guns in classrooms, dorms, and administrative buildings on college campuses. Additionally, this legislation gives bar owners the authority to prohibit guns in their establishments. Following my threat of a veto, we worked closely with law enforcement officials across the state so that changes were made to the original legislation. This ensured …
