Yesterday GRNC sent out an alert that linked to the NC Sheriffs Association report on Pistol Purchase Permits. The results of the NCSA report are worse than I had imagined. I don’t have anything more to say that GRNC didn’t already say, so check out their alert on the subject here. This is why we need to pass HB562…

Earlier today, Sean from NCGunBlog.com gave me a heads up about a press conference that was about to take place with NC State Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. Thankfully I was able to make it to the event just in time. Here’s the video: At the event, a sign was set up was set up next to Mr. Troxler stating that weapons, including concealed handguns are prohibited at the State Fair in accordance with NCGS 14-269.3. …

A few weeks back I posted that I had been informed that GRNC was looking into the NC State Fair being posted against concealed carry in (what I believe to be) violation of state law. According to the most recent GRNC Alert the good folks over there had a meeting with NC Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler today regarding the issue, and they were unable to come to terms. Check out the GRNC Alert on the …

Last fall, I wrote a post about the NC State Fairgrounds being posted against carry with “No Weapons” signs during the NC State Fair. I went through all of the relevant statutes that I could find about concealed carry, and I wasn’t able to find the legal justification for the state to post the signs that they did. I pushed the post from last year out to the Facebook group again this week, and we …

Ever since moving to North Carolina about 6 years ago, I’ve been baffled by the gun registry in Durham County. It seems that most gun owners (many of whom even live in Durham County) don’t even know about the registry, or feel perfectly okay with ignoring it. I’ve heard friends say things like “It’s not enforced anymore”, but the fact of the matter is that when a racist, anti-gun law is still on the books, …

Sigh. If we’re rating candidates solely on their 2A stance, Tillis has shown to be just OK. I don’t think he’s as bad as some are saying when it comes to 2A issues, but we have a better 2A candidate who has earned GRNC’s endorsement: Greg Brannon. Personally, I’m not in love with Brannon either, but if we’re rating candidates solely on their 2A stance (which is what the NRA and GRNC should be doing), …

This is great news! More people being allowed to carry concealed always reduces crime. It’s unfortunate that more elected officials in other places don’t feel the way David Wood, the chairman of the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners does: “It’s a big deal when it comes to Second Amendment rights and county commissioners don’t have any business doing legislation at a local level with such important issues,” he said.

GRNC is threatening to sue the city of Raleigh over their out dated signs in parks prohibiting concealed carry. The Raleigh Parks Director says it’s too expensive to update all of the signs at once, but they will be updated as they get damaged or worn: “Due to costs associated with and the potential of this coming up again, we are not going to replace all signs at once,” Sauer wrote to a Grass Roots …

As you certainly know, on October 1, 2013, Restaurant carry becomes the law of the land in North Carolina. On the same day, we will also be allowed to carry concealed in places that charge admission.
