Sportsmans Act: Annnnnnnnnd it’s gone!

I wrote earlier today about Kay Hagans “Bipartisan Sportsmans Act of 2014” and how I suspected that it was going to be a trojan horse for gun control. Earlier today Republicans who had cosponsored the bill also apparently felt the same way, and voted to kill the bill. Gun owners: 1 Kay Hagans attempt to save face with gun owners: 0

Kay Hagan Bringing Gun Control Fight to Senate

Kay Hagan (D – NC) has been championing the “Bipartisan Sportsmans Act of 2014” which is a bill originally introduced to allow more hunting and shooting privileges on federal land. I’ve been skeptical of this bill since it was introduced by Hagan. She is reviled by most gun owners here in NC, even after her surprising vote on Manchin-Toomey last year. The Washing Post is reporting that the new Sportsmans Act is going to be …

CNN Poll: Who Cares?

Has everyone seen this today? CNN, the channel that nobody watches apparently put a poll down at the very bottom of the page on their website (a place where nobody ever goes) regarding gun control. I think TTAG posted about it first, and from there every pro-gun Facebook page around was sharing it and making it go viral. I kept seeing things like “Fire Mission!!!! Zomg!!!”, “Hit this important poll!”, “Vote right now!” Why do …

UNLICENSED Possession of a Gun Prohibited

Tonight a pro-gun facebook page posted this picture without comment to their page. I quickly scanned it, and didn’t think much of it. I ended up scrolling past it again a couple of minutes later, and I gave it a closer look after I noticed that there were lots of comments asking where these cards could be purchased. As a gun blogger (I think I’ve achieved that status now?) I’m going to come out and …

Concealed Carry and Violent Crime at Colorado State

Ben sent me this information late last night, and I felt compelled to share: Someone over at Reddit has done some awesome research and noticed that as soon as concealed carry became legal at Colorado State University, violent crime fell through the floor. You know what’s sad about this? Under the insane anti-gun laws that were passed in Colorado earlier this year, concealed carry on college campuses is no longer legal. You might remember some …

Drinking and Carrying

Recently Illinois passed a concealed carry law that allows for restaurant carry. This happened right around the same time that HB937 was passed in NC which will also allow for carrying a concealed handgun in an establishment where alcohol is sold and consumed. The anti-gun media is having a field day with this in both states, which we expected would happen. What I didn’t expect was that so many people would spread blatant untruths about …

Are House Republicans Planning Backdoor Gun Control?

According to an article posted on The Hill, they may be. The article, which has been picked up by numerous bloggers and forums has begun to go viral around pro-2A circles in the past several hours. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) told The Hill on Friday that heā€™s had ā€œa lot of discussionsā€ with Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on guns. Yep. House Republicans are starting to talk about guns. Boehner has shown time …
