I’m Humbled

Over the past few days y’all have left us some really amazing feedback on iTunes regarding the podcast. I’m humbled, really. We put a lot of work into the podcast, but when I say it’s my favorite thing to do every week, I mean it. It’s amazing to me that y’all listen in every week, and still surprises me every time I’m at the range and someone comes up to me and says “Hey, are …

Thanks for the iTunes Reviews!

A couple weeks back we put out the call for some more iTunes reviews for the podcast. The fact is that the overwhelming majority of our audience uses iTunes or other Apple devices to consume the show, so getting those reviews in iTunes really helps us to grow! Since putting out the call, y’all have really come through for us, so much so that this morning we’re listed in the Top 5 Outdoor podcasts in …

Torture Test “Reviews”

A trend seems to have swept the gun and gear community over the past couple of years that I don’t really understand: torturing items with things they would never encounter in the real world. Dragging a Glock behind a pickup down a dirt road doesn’t tell us anything about the reliability, accuracy, or function of the pistol. It just tells us that in that instance we didn’t get enough garbage inside the pistol to stop …

S&W M&P Pro 9mm Review

Its been a couple months since I posted my initial thoughts on the Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm Pro. Since writing about that, the pistol has become my primary competition pistol, and I’ve used it in every match I have shot since picking it up. Accuracy: Right off the bat, this pistol throws lead very accurately. At 25 yards it has grouped 5 rounds at 2.5″ or less, and in matches, I have routinely placed rounds into …

Two Fools Leather Goods – Fat Boy Belt – First Impressions

I received a Fat Boy Belt from Mr. Curt Gillock of Two Fools Leather Goods today. This is an unconventional gun belt, using only one piece of leather, instead of the standard two sewn together, however the piece of leather the belt is made from is very thick, and very stiff, giving me about everything I want in a gun belt. The buckle is also unconventional, using a post that pushes through the tail in …

Crossbreed Supertuck Deluxe – Long Term Review

Since December 2010, I have been carrying either a Glock 19, or a Glock 26 in a Crossbreed Supertuck Deluxe every day. I purchased this holster after purchasing two knockoffs of the Crossbreed design. After using the knockoffs for a while, I determined that the design was great, but the execution of the knockoffs wasn’t as nice as the Crossbreed, so I went ahead and made the purchase. As with most things, I would have …

Concealed Carry Pistol Review – Kel-Tec PF-9

I’m going to start a small series of posts on concealed carry pistols, and the pro’s and con’s of each, based on my experience with the pistol. Lets start it off with the Kel-Tec PF-9. Kel-Tec PF-9 The first pistol I purchased specifically for the purpose of carrying, was a Kel-Tec PF-9. At the time, it was the smallest, thinnest 9mm pistol on the market. I bought it to use as a pocket gun, thinking …

C&E Gun and Knife Show – Raleigh, NC Feb 25th, 2012

A couple of us stopped by the C&E gun and knife show this morning, looking for some AK accessories, ammo, and mags for a friends SAR-1. This was a smaller gun show, located in the Expo building at the State Fairgrounds, not the larger Jim Graham building. I was pretty disappointed in this show. Gun prices looked to be about 10-15% more than the last Dixie show, and ammo prices were creeping up as well. …
