The below picture has been floating around Facebook for the last 24 hours or so. This, friends, is the type of thing we need to do. We need to be vocal to our representatives in congress, but we also need to be stewards of the second amendment. There are many people who are not opposed to gun ownership, who just don’t know enough to know what they don’t know.
I’m not one to hide the fact that I like to shoot guns. It’s my hobby, and like most people who have hobbies, I enjoy talking about it nearly as much as doing it. Some people hide the fact that they are gun owners, and some people may have a legitimate reason for doing so, but for the average Joe like me, it’s not a big deal. The reason I bring this up, is that recently since all of the hysteria has begun I’ve been approached by several acquaintances asking me about gun ownership. One of them already has a firearm, but wants to get their concealed carry permit, another has never shot a gun before in her life, and yet another wants to learn to shoot better.
In all of these cases, I’ve really tried to help them as much as possible. I believe that if we want to keep our rights, we need to share our sport with as many people as possible. Most people aren’t crazy gun hating wackos, they just don’t know the answers and when they hear the main stream media screaming for gun control 24/7, they tend to turn their minds that way.
Here’s my challenge to you: In the next 30 days, take someone who has never shot before to the range. I know ammo is expensive and hard to find, but I promise that it will be a worth while investment. Just like we write our congressmen, we also need to inform our friends and neighbors, and the best way to do that is to take them shooting!
Send me an email, or leave me a voicemail about your range trip!
I love that the five seven is in the picture! Just wish ammo was easier to get!
