Moms Demand Action Doesn’t do Boycotts

Moms Demand Action organized a “Skip Starbucks Day” this past Saturday 8/24/2013, but according to their “About” page on their website, they don’t do boycotts… Moms Demand Action is not asking our government to ban guns, nor are we boycotting companies or colleges. We simply support common-sense solutions to the overwhelming and increasing epidemic of gun violence in America. Whether the gun violence happens in urban Chicago, suburban Virginia, or rural Texas, we must act …

Sunday Reading and a Question.

As promised, here’s your Sunday morning reading: Detroit Police to Mayoral Candidate: Get a gun. I thought this was interesting, especially coming from the bankrupt Detroit Police Dept. Calamity Jane over at SHTF Blog wrote a nice post about adding more movement to our daily routine. Its not a gun related post, but it’s good motivation to better ourselves. Michael Bane over at Down Range Radio had a nice recap of the Crimson Trace Midnight …

Exciting Podcast News

I’ve got a few exciting things lined up for the future of the podcast. If you aren’t already subscribed, you should make sure that you get subscribed so you don’t miss out. Some of you may be asking, “What the heck is a podcast, and why does Luke keep talking about it?” Podcasts are pretty cool. Think of it like an internet radio show that you can listen to whenever you want. Ben and I …

XDs 9mm Failure to Feed

It’s time for me to eat a little crow. Last week Brandon over at Monderno mentioned that Rob Pincus was having some failure to feed issues with his XDs 9mm, and I came out and said that mine had did it once, but after I ran a few rounds through the pistol, it never did it again. Guess what? It happened again. Here’s what happened: when loading the pistol, I inserted the magazine and pulled …

Stop Going on Piers Morgan’s Show

This is a message to every gun rights advocate out there: Stop going on Piers Morgan’s Show. The guys ratings are already through the floor, so it’s not like it’s a good platform to voice your opinion on gun rights. He’s proven himself time and again to be someone who doesn’t argue the facts, instead making up statistics to fit his cause. If you are approached by his producers, or receive any sort of invitation …

“Just Carry it with the Safety Off…”

Ever since the release of the S&W Shield, I’ve been leery of the itty bitty thumb safety that was included on it. I really think the pistol would have been a winner had it not had the thumb safety added to it, but unfortunately S&W felt the need to include it. Time and again I’ve heard people say to just carry it with the safety off, but I’ve been concerned that it would be too …

Sen. Kinnaird Resigns from NC Senate

Sen. Kinnaird, who was outspoken against HB937 has resigned from the NC Senate today. This is great news for lovers of liberty in NC! Sen. Kinnaird was the sole individual that kept HB937 from passing the Senate on the first reading, and she voted against the bill on both votes on the Senate. Check her voting record here at NCLeg.net

Weekend Reading

I’m totally ripping off this idea from Jason at PistolPackinDad.com (You should go subscribe to his feed). On the weekends I’m going to start posting some links to other blogs/news articles/announcements/whatever else I found interesting throughout the previous week: Miguel over at GunFreeZone.net does an epic smackdown of the Violence Policy Center, and their claim that .50BMG rifles are used in crimes all the time. Miguel finds that theres really only one murder that’s ever …

XDs Grip Safety

I’ve been pretty outspoken against the grip safeties on the standard XD and XDm pistols in the not-so-distant past. I owned a XD fullsize for a time, and I felt that the grip safety was a hindrance, and made gripping the pistol uncomfortable. On the XD and XDm pistols the grip safety keeps the slide from being retracted without the safety being depressed. For some reason, I don’t like this, although I’m not really sure …

New Marine Corps Pistol Training

Multiple targets? time limits? reloads on the clock? It must be a shooting sport, right? Wrong. It’s the Marine Corps new pistol training program. I didn’t serve, so I’m not exactly sure what the old qualification program was like, but it’s good to see them getting a little more focused on faster shooting, and less focused on long distance precision shooting with the pistol. I’d like to hear from the vets out there, what do …
