DIY – How To Make Kydex Holsters

This is a step by step guide showing you how to make Kydex holsters. This is a pretty easy process, definitely easier than the shotgun shell caddies I showed you how to make in the first part of the “3-gun on the cheap” series. I made this holster out of .08″ Boltaron thermoplastic. I like this thickness of plastic, as it’s thick enough for most uses, yet thin enough that it’s still pretty easy to …

SureFire Shot Timer for iPhone/iPod

Unfortunately, it looks like this app is no longer listed in the Apple App Store. If you are looking for a iOS timer for dry-fire practice, I highly recommend Dry Fire Timer. See my review of it here. On Monday, I posted about an Android shot timer that I have been using in conjunction with my dry fire practice. I had a couple of emails from readers asking about timers for their iOS devices as …

A Free App to Help With Dry Fire (IPSC Shot Timer)

If you follow the Triangle Tactical Facebook page, you may have seen a post recently about how I am getting back into a dry fire routine after falling off the wagon for a few months. One reason that a lot of people don’t do constructive dry fire practice, is that most shooters (myself included) don’t own a shot timer. Having a timer, with a ‘Par Time’ function is crucial to constructive practice. As I mentioned …

Interview With Massad Ayoob

No, not the Triangle Tactical Podcast, but Mr. Jack Spirko over at The Survival Podcast did a great interview last week with Massad Ayoob. If you aren’t sure who Massad Ayoob is, you’ve probably been living under a rock for the last 30 years, or you are very new to firearms. Either way, I really enjoyed the interview, and I would recommend that you give it a listen. Over the years, I’ve learned massive amounts …

Local Media Fear Mongering

In the video below, ABC11 does a story about counterfeit gun “parts” that were part of a raid conducted by federal authorities in Cary, NC. Notice how they interview neighbors, the classic “my children play on that street” line, etc. The fact of the matter is that these counterfeit parts were most likely knockoff molded buttstocks, AimPoint, and EOtech copies, foregrips, etc. Certainly it’s a crime to sell them as the real deal, but it’s …

HB17 Passed the House

Earlier today, House Bill 17 (the bill that formerly contained a restaurant carry provision) was overwhelmingly passed in the NC State House on a 97-20 vote. While I wish this bill still contained the restaurant carry provision, this is still a big win for gun owners in NC. This bill makes the records of pistol purchase permits, and concealed carry permits confidential. The bill will now be sent over to the State Senate, where I …

Fellowship

Saturday morning I shot the H2O Fowl Farms Mega BUG (back up gun) match. We had several new shooters at the match, and I believe a good time was had by all. On my squad we had a new shooter who’s pistol had a malfunction on the first stage and it wouldn’t go bang after that. Rather than send the new guy home with a broken pistol, one person on the squad offered the use …

NC Restaurant Carry Bill Killed by House Leadership

This morning the NC House Judiciary Committee met to discuss House Bill 17, which is the bill containing restaurant carry, and a provision making concealed carry, and pistol purchase permit records private. Strangely, the bill showed up to committee missing the restaurant carry portion of the bill. It appears that house leadership (Allegedly Speaker Thom Tillis) asked for that portion of the bill to be removed, and it was. The confidentiality part was apparently well …
