Are ‘Tactical’ Trainers Taking a Lesson from Competitive Shooters?

There’s been a long standing feud of sorts between the ‘tactical’ shooting community, and the competitive shooters. Many in the tactical group snub their nose at competitive shooters, looking down upon the types of pistols that are shot in games like USPSA Limited and Open, calling them “space guns” or “race guns” and saying that they don’t have a practical purpose in the real world. It seems that this trend has slowed recently, and some …

Covert Rifle Bags

With the current state of things, many people are looking for ways to transport their rifles without carrying around a big case that screams “GUN!”. This past weekend I was walking around Gander Mountain  and I saw a display of covert rifle bags made by Blackhawk that were shaped like tennis bags, but they were just a hair bigger, which allow for a broken down AR-15 to fit in the bag covertly. “…but Berettas don’t bluff”

Last week I told you about Magpul threatening to leave Colorado if there was a ban passed on high capacity magazines. This week, Beretta has joined the fight, threatening to leave Maryland if they pass any measures that would make it illegal for citizens to own their products. The Washington Post interviewed Jeffrey Reh, the general counsel for Beretta. “Why expand in a place where the people who built the gun couldn’t buy it?” said …

Evolution of Concealed Carry – Going Bigger!

I’ve been taking concealed carry seriously for almost 5 years now, and in that time I’ve carried a lot of different pistols. Some have stuck around longer than others, but for the most part, I’ve carried a Glock 19, with either a S&W J-frame, or Kel-Tec PF-9 as a smaller option. Recently I pulled my old Glock 17 out of the safe, and began dry-firing with it. I’d forgotten how much I loved the Glock …

I saw this hit my Twitter feed this afternoon, thought it was pretty cool to see a local company get a shout out from Michael Bane! Allen from Tarheel Targets does a lot for the shooting sports locally, having sponsored the IDPA East Coast Championship last fall, the North Carolina Justice Academy Charity Challenge, the monthly IDPA match at H2O Fowl Farms. It’s exciting to see that Allen is now sponsoring the IDPA Indoor Nationals …
