Hours Before Nationals IDPA Rules CZ Accu-Shadow Illegal for SSP

Hours before the 2014 IDPA Nationals, the folks at IDPA HQ left the following message on the IDPA Facebook page ruling the CZ Accu-Shadow illegal for SSP: (Facebook link if the embed isn’t showing up.) Here’s the cited rule: I ran searches on the IDPA rulebook for both “OEM” and “original equipment manufacturer” and came up with zero results: I’m not extremely familiar with the CZ Accu-Shadow, but one commenter on the IDPA Facebook page …

Pic of the Day: Poker Game Shootout

Yesterday I shot the H2O Fowl Farms “Coins for Children” charity IDPA match. The match was raising money for the Coins for Children charity that works to end child sex trafficing. The stages were fantastic: big, challenging, and fun. We’ll talk more about the match on Episode 98 of the podcast which will release early Monday morning. Stay tuned.

What Happens When You Don’t Stop For A Squib?

Yesterday, Brandon at Concealed Nation published an article with the below video showing a shooter with a squib load during an IDPA match: (Video Link for Email/RSS Readers) In the video the shooter is able to stop shooting before he shot another round into the squib, which can have disasterous consequences. On Saturday when we were shooting at the PDHSC/Shoot2Live IDPA match, a friend had a squib in his 1911, and unfortuantely was not able …

First Shooting Match Testimonials

Last night on Episode 95 of the podcast, Ben introduced a new segment that we’d like to start having on the show. Its becoming a pretty common thing for us to hear from people at matches, or in emails that they shot their first shooting match and had a great time. Here’s what were looking for: What match did you shoot? (Type of match, where it was, etc.) How did it go? What did you …

Ben’s Latest USPSA Match Video

Ben has been busting his tail with his shooting, and with video editing over the past couple months. Below is his latest USPSA match video where he spent much of the match working on shooting while moving. He’s also written two posts about shooting while moving recently, and I think you should check them out if you haven’t already: Part 1 Part 2 (Video Link for Email/RSS Readers)

Woody’s Designated Marksman Match Review

Woody’s Designated Marksman Match is about the only long range match in the Triangle area and it’s a bit of a hidden gem. It’s held at Woody’s Hunt and Rifle Club, just outside of Apex, and not far from Raleigh at all. I’m not a long range shooter, but sometime in the future, I’d really like to get out and shoot Woody’s match. Anyways, I just came across this video about the match, check it …

Super Dave: Shooting On The Move

(Video link for Email/Rss Readers) I guess this is a way to keep people from doing those IDPA “baby steps” that Ben talked about last week. I’d like to see this in an IDPA match, although I think the match directors would be concerned about someone missing a step, and falling on the treadmill with a gun in their hand. Who’s got an old treadmill?

2014 MGM Ironman Videos

Rather than working on some great blog content, or cleaning guns, or reloading today, I’ve been sitting in front of my computer monitor watching YouTube videos of the 2014 MGM Ironman 3-Gun match that took place earlier this month. The stages are huge, and some of them involve things like a zip line, driving a golf cart, running through an underground bunker, and more steel targets than you can shake a 40 round PMAG at. …
