Rolling Stone: The 5 Most Dangerous Guns

Rolling Stone published an article outlining the 5 Most Dangerous Guns in America. They cover pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, and derringers. Yes, that’s as specific as they get. Pistols, Revolvers, Rifles, Shotguns, and Derringers. I think that just about covers every gun in existence. Who writes this garbage? 4th graders? I was expecting some rhetoric about the uber dangerous Glock revolver, AR-47, and whatever else, but they didn’t even choose to be that specific, I’m …

Shooting on the Move in USPSA, Part 2

Last week, I wrote a blog post about shooting on the move in USPSA and IDPA. That weekend, I shot a USPSA match. Lanny Bassham teaches us that if we talk about doing something, or write about doing something, or even just think a lot about doing something, we’ll probably do more of it. So I shouldn’t have been surprised when I found myself making stage plans at the USPSA match that involved shooting on …

Sportsmans Act: Annnnnnnnnd it’s gone!

I wrote earlier today about Kay Hagans “Bipartisan Sportsmans Act of 2014” and how I suspected that it was going to be a trojan horse for gun control. Earlier today Republicans who had cosponsored the bill also apparently felt the same way, and voted to kill the bill. Gun owners: 1 Kay Hagans attempt to save face with gun owners: 0

Kay Hagan Bringing Gun Control Fight to Senate

Kay Hagan (D – NC) has been championing the “Bipartisan Sportsmans Act of 2014” which is a bill originally introduced to allow more hunting and shooting privileges on federal land. I’ve been skeptical of this bill since it was introduced by Hagan. She is reviled by most gun owners here in NC, even after her surprising vote on Manchin-Toomey last year. The Washing Post is reporting that the new Sportsmans Act is going to be …

‘No Guns’ Signs Aren’t Good Sellers

Saw this gem in the clearance aisle at the local Walmart tonight. Having about a decade of retail experience under my belt, I can tell you that items go clearance for two reasons: 1. There’s a new model coming out. 2. The item isn’t selling well. I think it’s safe to say that there’s probably not a new and improved anti-gun sign that actually prevents criminals from entering an establishment with guns, so I’m betting …

Stephen Spielberg: Triceratops Hunter

A similar picture was posted on a Facebook group yesterday in reference to trophy hunting. I believe it was posted as a joke, but someone bit hard on it, you know, because trophy hunting is why the dinosaurs are extinct… Oh, and apparently hunting is no different than going into someone’s home and murdering them. Yeah.

Carry to Defend Against 4-legged Critters

News is coming out this morning about a child and mother that were attacked by a rabid fox in Hope Mills, NC. The fox scratched the child, but the mother, went after the pet dogs, and was killed by the child’s father. Living in a townhome community having lots of neighbors with pets packed in close, I carry to defend against critters of the 4-legged variety as much as I do the 2-legged variety. We’re …

The M9 and 9mm: What’s good for the military is good for the gander?

The military is talking about replacing the M9 again, which always stirs up a caliber war about whether or not 9mm is a suitable manstopper and why the military doesn’t like it. But remember: the military can only use FMJ ammo, no hollow points. A small, fast bullet is more likely to overpenetrate than a fat, slow bullet in FMJ. When they’re both hollow points and both expand and discharge all of their energy in …

On The Importance of Trying Things You Don’t Like

A few months ago, I bought a flashlight. Not because I didn’t have one I liked. If I could have married the Fenix PD32, I would have. It has momentary activation, a cut down tailcap allowing a syringe hold while shooting, and variable brightness. Usable in “moonlight” mode to help you find your keys or “turbo” to blind an attacker while you drew and fired, it was my perfect light. But it was too big. …

Facebook Could Be The Next Front on the Anti-Gun Battlefield

Late last week we received information that Facebook had completed an experiment to determine if showing users more happy or sad stories in their news feed would have an impact on their mood. If you’ve been using Facebook for any length of time, you certainly know that Facebook only shows certain things to you on your news feed. They limit the amount of posts that you see from business/brand pages, and you generally only see …
