Having a boring match

Back when I had the fortune to interview Steve Anderson for episode 107, one of the (many) things that stuck with me was a moment where he talks about accepting your current level of skill and not trying to shoot better than you actually are on match day. Playing his straight man, I replied that that sounds like a great way to shoot a boring match. Which, it is. Saturday was Sir Walter Gun Club’s …

Dissecting Glock’s “This Spring” Ad

Earlier today, Glock posted this picture on their Facebook page, with the caption “This Spring”. They said nothing else about it. Well, if you’re like me, you’re hoping that this could mean a super special new spring to fit in the Glock unicorn singlestack 9mm pistol that we all hope exists somewhere behind lock and key in Smyrna, GA. I decided to do a little digging into this picture to see what I could come …

NC Wildlife Resources Commission Constructing New Shooting Range

…because people keep shooting up signs and other stuff on the gameland. This falls under the heading of “Don’t be a douche.” If it’s not YOUR target, don’t shoot at it. Yes it’s great that they’re building a range, but they’re also banning shooting on the rest of the gameland. If people keep this up, they’ll end up closing the range and they’ll keep the shooting ban in place.

The X in XM855

Since all of this craziness started a couple weeks ago about a possible ban of XM855 ammo, I’ve heard a lot of people mention that they like having it on hand because it’s military ammo that has to meet a certain amount of specifications so it’s somehow better than “civilian” type ammo. Thing is, the XM855 ammo that’s generally sold on the open market is the stuff that failed quality control to become military ammo, …

The good news is that we were able to record and its a great episode, the bad news is that I need to get a whole bunch of junk off of the old computer before I can get it …

Story Time With Luke: XM855 and Steel Wool

With all the recent hubub about XM855 ammo (more about that in Episode 121), I thought about what happened a few years ago after a friend of mine bought his first AR-15. I recieved a text message from my friend after he had purchased some XM855 so he could take his new AR to the range for the first time. He asked it he was allowed to shoot the XM855 at the local range, because …

Two of my Favorite Things: Shooting and Debt Freedom

Here at Triangle Tactical, we’re big Dave Ramsey fans, and I love seeing videos of people shooting up their paid off credit cards, never to use them again. 3 Years… Whoa

This isn’t the actual anniversary of Triangle Tactical, as I originally started the site on Blogger, and it was terrible, so I switched to WordPress after a couple weeks. Cool though, 3 years. Yay.

Caleb Giddings Just Solved The Production Optics Problem

Caleb, in his recent appearance on Ben Stoeger’s podcast, went on a profanity-laced rant against Production Optics that is both awesome and correct. I’m not going to embed the video because, seriously, profanity, but if you want to experience the awesome, click here to go right the start of the rant. By way of context, Production Optics is an idea that’s been circling in both USPSA and IDPA for a while and the most concrete …

A Lesson on Having Fun While Shooting

Osage Combatives wrote a great post on his Facebook page yesterday that I had to share here on the blog: Post by Triangle Tactical. Competition is fun, but make sure you’re getting enough enjoyment out of your shooting to keep you doing it for the long haul.
