Yeah, I’m interested, especially if they weigh within 2oz of a factory Glock 17 magazine (I’m sure they do) so they will be USPSA Production legal. Magpul is going some cool stuff this year, looks like that move out of Colorado isn’t hurting them.

A couple weeks ago a reader sent me an email about “Perceived Carry Decoys” with a link to a website that claims will be creating inert guns in holsters so people can have the perception of open carry without the responsibility of actually carrying a gun. Yes, a dummy pistol and holster. Basically a less useful blue gun that is certain to get some folks into situations over their heads. That is, if the product …

Somewhat graphic video, so be warned, and watch carefully: The gun store clerk didn’t check the pistol before removing it from the display. In my opinion this may be a pattern of behavior at this gun store (or with this particular clerk), because the loaded pistol was placed into the case beforehand and left their waiting for someone to remove it. The police officer didn’t safety check the pistol after it was handed to him. …

Great video here from John at Ballistic Radio: “Apparently if you practice to use your sights, that’s what you wanna do.” Yep. If you practice using your sights, and you practice your draw stroke, you can rip quick times even from concealment. I’m of the opinion that a lot of people who love the idea of point shooting aren’t very good at shooting, and they use it as a crutch or excuse for their poor …

Y’all have been blowing up my email over the past week asking about the 2015 calendar. I’m working on it now, but it’s tedious and I’m still waiting for a few different ranges to get their 2015 calendars published. Keep checking it over the next week or so, and I’ll hopefully have most everything published for 2015by the end of next week. If you’re a range owner, or you know of any changes that I …

A response I wrote elsewhere to some good-natured ribbing from a fan of the show about my new competition belt and magazine pouches and the skills > tools mantra: Heh, yeah. The idea is that gear just needs to be “good enough”. I switched to a double belt as means to an end: dry firing better. I found threading mag pouches and holsters on to my belt around my existing belt loops meant everything was …

So last Monday, I shot the second Wake Action Pistol match for December. Now, as the stage designer, you’d think I’d know the stages and their briefs and procedures front to back. But in the middle of a match, it all goes out the window. So, here’s the video: Stage 2: Trying to be nice to the other RO on my squad, I volunteered to shoot each stage first, thinking that surely I know each …

The past couple of days have brought some leaks of new pistols that will be dropping at SHOT Show later this month. As expected, Glock is apparently coming out with a line of optic ready long slide pistols. I’m curious about why they decided to go with long slide pistols for the optic ready models, because once you put an optic on the pistol, the sight radius doesn’t matter anymore. I’d be a bit more …
Read More »Michigan Becomes a Real Shall-Issue State
Post by Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners. Michigan has always had a weird CCW permit system that involved “County gun boards” that had the final say in whether or not someone would get their permit. Hardly what we’d call “shall issue” these days. I’m glad to see Gov. Snyder ditching the County gun boards in favor of a real shall issue system.

I’m sure you’ve seen it: the “diagnostic pistol target” with a series of pie slices around a circular center. Shoot the center and see where your hits end up and tells you what’s wrong with your shooting. I won’t reproduce it here because it’s so unproductive I don’t even want to spread it any further. If you haven’t seen it, be glad. You probably will if you hang out in this hobby long enough. This …
