Bizarro Week: I love Podcasts

Ok, so this isn’t totally off topic being that I’m a podcaster, but I love podcasts. Yesterday I logged into my feedly app on my phone, and realized that I hadn’t logged in and read any of my favorite blogs in almost a month. I guess I just don’t have a lot of time to read blogs and forums these days, but I can tell you that I’m 100% up to date with all of …

Bizarro Week: Whiskey Stones are Garbage

I like the idea if chilled whiskey as much as the next guy, and in my travels I came across these whiskey stones which are basically little cubes of soapstone that you freeze which are supposed to keep your drink cold without diluting it. The trouble is, they don’t really keep your drink that cold. Yeah, when you first pour it they have a cooling effect, but after a minute or two, they are just …

FYI: This Weeks Podcast Will Be Delayed

This weeks podcast will be delayed a few hours. It’s all recorded, but Ben and I ended up spending a lot of time working on a different topic before we hit record, and then changing the topic at the last minute to something else. In light of this, I ran out of time to edit the episode. I’ll have it up sometime Monday night after the Wake Co. Action Pistol Match.

I Beg You, Please Lock Up Your Stuff.

WRAL has a breaking story about a child in Fayetteville, NC who died this morning after shooting himself with a gun that had been stored on top of a refrigerator in their home. Please people, I beg you to lock up your guns. If you have children, you can’t just hide things and expect that your kids won’t get I to them. Small kids are inquisitive, and they notice things. Certainly there are a lot …

Operating Operator Dynamic Tactical Wristwatch

I saw that RECOIL posted this watch band velcro patch thing on their Facebook page today, and all I could do was shake my head. IN AGREEMENT! Why aren’t we tacti-accessorizing our watch bands like operators who operate operationally? I spent a lot of time working on this modular load bearing carry sysrem, so try to follow along: First: Velcro We have to have velcro, and we have to have patches to stick to that …

“I’m a big guy, I can conceal anything!”

Beeeeeeeee Esssssssss! I used to be pretty fat. Back around the beginning of this year I was up around 285-290lbs pretty consistently. I’m also pretty tall at around 6’2″. If I’ve heard it once, I’ve heard it a thousand times: “I’m a big guy, I can conceal anything!” It’s a line of crap. When I was fatter, my waistband was tighter, and that made even buttoning my pants tough, not to mention trying to conceal …

YouTube Shenanigans

Just a heads up: YouTube is working on integrating themselves with Google+, and all sorts of odd things are happening in the transition. I’ve had a personal YouTube account for several years, and when I started Triangle Tactical, I started a channel just for the website. Well, during this YouTube/Google+ integration I somehow wound up with two Triangle Tactical accounts, and two personal accounts. I tell you all of this because it seems that some …

“Campaign To Unload” Facebook Derp

The folks over at the “Campaign To Unload” on Facebook have taken the derp to a whole new level. I guess technically they are correct, it was downloaded 100,000+ times, and it isn’t detectable by a metal detector. It’s technically a “gun” as defined by the BATFE too. Of course they are ignoring that in order to make the plastic lower into something that is actually a weapon would require about 5lbs of steel, which …

S&W Shield vs Springfield Armory XDs – Part 1

I’ve received more questions about this topic than any other topic, ever. Some say the Shield is thinner, others say the XDs is bigger and heavier. As far as overall size, the two pistols are really close. I took a picture of each pistol (same focal length and all that mumbo jumbo) and laid them on top of each other. I lined them up by the back edge of the front sight, and they are …
