Wasting Time Watching USPSA Nationals Videos

I need to work on my reloads, I’m not nearly this fast: Also, look how KC and Chris Tilley (2nd and last shooters) shoot the second array of targets on the move here: The other shooters take the targets on the move too, but KC and Chris barely even slow down while moving toward the next array.

What Has The Anti-Gun Crowd Done for The Community?

Can’t say I’ve ever seen a sign on the side of the road proclaiming that it had been adopted by the Misguided Moms… On a more serious note though, I think it’s great to see MMAGC getting out there, and showing the community that good moms not only want to protect their families, but that they are active in the community as well.

I Just Need to Gloat a Bit…

In January of 2013, shortly after Ben started co-hosting the podcast he and another mutual friend started dropping some hints to me about weight loss, paleo, and general health and well being. It took a couple of months to get through to me, but after hearing Ben talk about eating bacon all the time, somewhere around the end of February/beginning of March 2013 I decided to give this whole paleo thing a go. In a …

An NC Parallel to the Shaneen Allen Case

Recently, a commenter posted on the NCGunOwners.com (NCGO) web forum about a possible pending felony charge in NJ and how it would effect his ability to purchase a firearm here in NC. He’s an NC CHP holder who was pulled over for a traffic violation in NJ, and he informed the police officer of his concealed handgun during the traffic stop, at which point he was arrested. After answering his original question, I couldn’t help …

I Saw The Sights Lift

Way back when I first started competitive shooting, I purchased Brian Eno’s book, and attempted to read it. The whole zen thing was lost on me, and I lost interest in the book before the halfway mark. I’m not sure what happened to the book, but I think I may be to the point where I should actually sit down and read it cover to cover a time or two. Anyways, yesterday I headed up …

Someone Stole Daniel Horners Guns From the Mail

Taran Tactical Innovations posted the following embedded post on Facebook tonight: For those who don’t Facebook: “Hey guys, we have a case of some stolen guns and are looking to our fans and supporters to help us and their local PDs in tracking down these criminals before someone gets injured or killed. A shipment meant for Daniel Horner was intercepted by presumably a UPS employee between Newbury Park California and Atlanta Georgia. The missing weapons …

I Needed Some Motivation to Practice More

Last week in Episode 99 of the podcast, Ben and I talked about how sometimes buying some new gear can give you extra motivation to practice, which will in turn make you a better shooter. I’m pretty squared away with gear: good enough holster, good enough pistol, CR Speed belt, but I’ve been lacking on the magazine pouch side of things for a while now. Magazine pouches are such a simple thing that I’ve never …

The Perfect Deer Rifle? Ruger American Ranch

Last week Ruger announced a couple of new rifles in their American Rifle lineup. The new rifles are called the American Rifle Ranch series, and they are available in .223/5.56 and .300 Blackout. Something about a short, handy, .300BLK bolt action rifle that weighs under 6lbs screams at me that it’s the perfect deer rifle for the little NC deer we have around here. Couple that with the law changing last fall to allow hunting …

Practicing Without Eyes and Ears

Recently I came across a Facebook post that advocated practicing shooting without wearing eyes and ears because when the balloon goes up you won’t have time to put them on, so you need to practice without them. Astonishingly, many of the responses to the post stated that they also practice shooting without wearing eyes and ears in order to get the full effect so they won’t be surprised when/if they ever have to use their …

Would You Buy a Painted Gun?

I recently had the opportunity to purchase a pistol that had been painted (ceracoat), but I wasn’t able to close the deal. To me, removing the factory finish on the pistol, and applying something else is always inferior to the factory finish. Would you purchase a pistol that had been painted after it left the factory?
