Home Invasion Advice Derp

Oh boy, this one is a doozie. John was lucky because the intruder robbed him, but left him alive. Yeah, so lucky that he was only robbed, and not robbed and murdered. I guess I’m lucky that I’ve made it 29 years without being murdered too. If you come face to face with an intruder and you’re not prepared, lie down and do not look at them. Pretend to have a heart attack or breathing …

Larry Vickers Revives the RTF2 Glock Frame

This morning on Facebook, Larry Vickers announced that he, in partnership with Lipsey’s (a wholesale distributor) is coming out with a signature line of Glock pistols. The Glocks are FDE colored Gen3 frames that have the old RTF2 texture that I think everyone loved. They will also come with a bunch of Vickers Tactical branded stuff (Vickers sights, mag release, slide stop, and baseplates). The pistols also feature “LAV” in the serial numbers for the …

I Should Compete With My AR-15 More

When I bought my first gun in 2011, I wanted a manual safety. How do I know it won’t accidentally go off without that? When I first started carrying concealed in 2012, I was nervous about carrying one in the chamber. I’d shot competition enough and spent enough time around holstered handguns to know that they don’t just go off on their own, and yet the fear lingered. I know that nothing can reach in …

I Need A Dropped/Offset Holster

Ben pointed this out to me from my match video from Sunday’s Fun Match. You’ll notice that the pistol is just beginning to clear the holster, and I’m all leaned over, shoulders crooked, etc. I suited up with my belt, holster, and pistol last night and spent some time dry firing in the garage while trying to keep my shoulders straight on the draw stroke. Unfortunately this particular holster sits a bit higher when it’s …

Question of the Day: .30-30 Lever Action Rifle for Home Defense?

While surfing the web earlier this morning I came across a forum post (I’d link to it, but I can’t find it now) where someone asked about using a .30-30 lever action rifle for home defense. I’ve always been a fan of the lever guns. My first gun that was actually mine was a Winchester 94 in .30-30, that my dad bought me for deer hunting. I’ve referred to it as the “poor man’s assault …

Dang Duck Hunting Disturbance

I received a couple text messages from my Dad this morning saying that it was a beautiful day in Northern Michigan to do some duck hunting. He went on in the next message to say that he didn’t get any ducks because someone landed an airplane in the middle of his decoys…

No Digital Copy of Durham County Gun Registry

On Monday, the Durham County Sheriffs Office posted online about shredding the decades old gun registry that was made illegal earlier this year by the state legislature. This was a huge win for us, but after the dust settled, many of us were left wondering whether or not this was just political theater right before election time. Could they have made all of the pomp and circumstance about shredding the paper copies of the gun …

[NSFW] CSGV “Mean Tweets”

The rabid anti-gunners at the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence released a video yesterday where they read mean tweets that they were directed towards them on Twitter. NC’s own Sean Sorrentino, and Bob Owens were both featured. The video contains some salty language, but its pretty hilarious:
