Okay. Buckle up. Rant time. Ever shot an IDPA match and been required to “shoot on the move”? Let’s say you start close to some targets and have to shoot while you back up. In a real shooting, you’d be hauling ass backwards while presenting your gun, and maybe start squeezing off rounds from retention. In the match, if you’re looking to have a good score, you stand flat footed while you draw your gun …

A few months back the BATFE shut down their eFile system for processing the forms needed to gain a tax stamp for a suppressors, and short barreled rifles and shotguns. The draw of the eFile system was that it provided turnaround for processing the forms in a matter of a month or two, as opposed to the six plus months that mailing in the forms. Earlier this week the eFile system came back online, and …

For the past few months it seems like there’s been nothing but bad news on the Remington front. In the beginning of 2014 we were all excited to see the Remington R51, the first non-1911 pistol from Remington in a long time. The R51 took the internet by storm, bringing tons and tons of traffic to sites like this. It seemed that something was up when the pistol didn’t make an appearance for Media Day …

A friend of mine lives up in Michigan where pop cans and beer cans have a $0.10 deposit that is paid when you buy them, and then you return the can to the store and get your $0.10 back. Picking up cans is a big thing in Michigan, and hardly anyone tosses a can in the trash. My buddy’s neighbor likes to drink a lot of beer, and apparently worked out a deal that my …

The NC State Legislature passed Senate Bill 226 today, the bill that eliminates the Jim Crow era gun registry in Durham County. The Durham County gun registry was a racist thing allowed by the state legislature back in 1935. Statutorily it would have been illegal for any other county in the state to operate a gun registry, so why should Durham county be allowed to run a gun registry when no other county can? Racism. …

Via Twitter, I see that a favorite character from the first season of Heroes will be returning to their spin-off/reboot/back to basics miniseries next year: That’s all well and good, since Noah Bennett was one of many great characters in the first season, which was pretty much the only one worth watching. But what I want to know is if one of my favorite supporting characters will be returning: the Strayer-Voigt Infinity: The signature gun …

After watching this video, I would like to nominate Jerry Miculek for 2A Statesman of the year. He nails the retention aspect of open carry (Which we talked about with Chris Clifton in Episode 85) and he hits the public perception aspect into orbit. (Video Link for Email/RSS Readers) “You’re a representation of a good gun owner. Don’t put people on the spot, nobody likes being put on the spot. We all want to be …

As you know, I grew up in the Northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan, and it’s an absolutely gorgeous place. I spent most of my summers backpacking, hunting, canoeing, and shooting with my friends from Boy Scouts. One of the best parts of summer was heading up to Camp Greilick for a week of scout camp. During the day at scout camp, we spent a lot of our time working on different merit badges, and in …
