BREAKING: ABC 11 Reporting Wake County Getting Online PPP Applications

This is great news for Wake Co, NC residents. ABC 11 just reported on the evening news that starting Monday 2/24 residents of Wake County will be able to apply for PPPs online, eliminating the need to make two trips downtown to the Sheriffs Dept when applying. Nothing on the Sheriffs Dept. website just yet, but I’ll be keeping an eye on it for any updates.

“Handgun Trigger Safety Act” Introduced in US Senate

What a load of crap. This bill was introduced today by Sen. Ed Markie (D) today. The bill calls to earmark money for “gun violence” research, as well as making all new handguns have technology that only allow them to be fired by their owner (because there is never a situation where someone else may want to shoot your pistol for a perfectly legitimate purpose). In addition to this, the bill would make selling a …

SC Constitutional Carry Killed

Looks like the SC Constitutional Carry Bill is dead. It got shot down last night on a 4-17 vote in the Senate committee where it has been for a while now. It’s unfortunate, hopefully after the 2014 midterm elections a similar bill will be resubmitted, and maybe then there will be some more support. I’m disappointed about this, but it is exciting that the folks in SC gained restaurant carry recently, so at the very …

I’m at Bass Pro Shops in Cary

This place is pretty cool! First impressions: Way bigger than I was expecting when I walked in the door. Currently it must be the biggest sporting goods type store that we have in the Triangle. Much bigger than Gander Mountain. Small parking lot for such a big store. Not nearly as many guns as Gander Mountain. Not even close. Seriously, not even close. Bass Pro does carry reloading supplies, but that section of the store …

Ruger CEO Mike Fifer Predicts No Semi-Auto Handguns in California in 2 Years

This afternoon I was listening to a Gun Talk bonus podcast on microstamping where Tom Gresham interviewed Ruger CEO Mike Fifer about Ruger ending their sales in California. During the interview, Fifer stated that he doesn’t expect to see any semi-auto handguns on the California “not unsafe” list in only 2 years because of the new interpretation of the laws. This is scary sounding on the surface, but I think it actually may give the …

You have to show up to win

I really didn’t want to dry fire last night. I know that I’ve seen huge gains from dry firing for fifteen minutes a day for the last few months. I know that I have a goal to go up in class at the USPSA classifier in March. I know that getting frequent practice is key to being able to perform on demand; fifteen minutes of dry fire four times a week is better than an …

SC Gov. Nikki Haley to sign Restaurant Carry Bill at 10:30AM

This is exciting news for our friends in South Carolina! Gov. Haley has announced that she will be signing the S308 into law at 10:30AM. SC S308 will allow for concealed carry in restaurants that serve alcohol, as well as speeding up permit times for LEO’s and former military personnel who have had prior training (which I’m not sure I agree with). The bill also strengthens the penalties for CCW permit holders who violate “no …

Gander Mountain Coming to North Raleigh

It sounds like the Best Buy near Triangle Town Center is moving out, and Gander Mountain will be moving in. If it’s anything like the Gander Mountain in Morrisville, NC it will have a huge selection of guns, ammo, and outdoor supplies. It’s good news that were living in a place that can support another Gander Mountain, the Cabelas coming to town soon, and the Bass Pro that will be opening in Cary before too …
