Fools Point a Toy Gun at People on the Street

This is absolutely frightening when I think about it for more than a couple minutes. Someone pulls up in a vehicle, engages you in conversation, and then out comes a gun. What do you do? (Some “Not Safe for Work” language in the video) These folks are lucky that they will be learning their lesson from the long arm of the law, instead of the the barrel of a gun.

BREAKING: ABC 11 Reporting Wake County Getting Online PPP Applications

This is great news for Wake Co, NC residents. ABC 11 just reported on the evening news that starting Monday 2/24 residents of Wake County will be able to apply for PPPs online, eliminating the need to make two trips downtown to the Sheriffs Dept when applying. Nothing on the Sheriffs Dept. website just yet, but I’ll be keeping an eye on it for any updates.

Kydex “Trigger Guard Only” Holsters

Let me start this post by saying that I’m eating a little crow by being honest here. Every now and again I get a question from a reader or listener asking about these “trigger guard only” holsters. A couple years back these were all the rage with just an eyelet and a piece of paracord that loops around your belt. I made one. I hated it. It didn’t stay in place, and just wasn’t suitable …

“Handgun Trigger Safety Act” Introduced in US Senate

What a load of crap. This bill was introduced today by Sen. Ed Markie (D) today. The bill calls to earmark money for “gun violence” research, as well as making all new handguns have technology that only allow them to be fired by their owner (because there is never a situation where someone else may want to shoot your pistol for a perfectly legitimate purpose). In addition to this, the bill would make selling a …

SC Constitutional Carry Killed

Looks like the SC Constitutional Carry Bill is dead. It got shot down last night on a 4-17 vote in the Senate committee where it has been for a while now. It’s unfortunate, hopefully after the 2014 midterm elections a similar bill will be resubmitted, and maybe then there will be some more support. I’m disappointed about this, but it is exciting that the folks in SC gained restaurant carry recently, so at the very …

The Beginning of a Holster

I’ve had a hankerin’ for a black leather pancake holster for my XDs 9mm for a while now. They go on and off pretty easily, hold tight to the body, I find them really comfortable, and kydex pancake holsters suck. After doing some looking around online, I just can’t justify the price that comes with with nice leather these days, so I figured I may as well make a nice holster, and document the process …

I’m at Bass Pro Shops in Cary

This place is pretty cool! First impressions: Way bigger than I was expecting when I walked in the door. Currently it must be the biggest sporting goods type store that we have in the Triangle. Much bigger than Gander Mountain. Small parking lot for such a big store. Not nearly as many guns as Gander Mountain. Not even close. Seriously, not even close. Bass Pro does carry reloading supplies, but that section of the store …

Lessons From Snowpocalypse Raleigh:

1. Put a reflective vest in your car. If you have a family, put a couple reflective vests in your car. I ended up leaving work at about 6:30pm on Wednesday after the snow had arrived, and most of the roadways had cleared out in the Triangle. I found hoards of people walking down sidewalks, the shoulder of the road, or in the case of one guy, right down the middle of Glenwood Ave. in …
