Friday Link Day

Here’s some news stories that you may want to check out: Barry Saunders over at the N&O weighs in on the Pit BBQ robbery. I don’t like his tone, but for the most part, I agree with his point. Actually Ben and I discussed that same point before his article was posted during the news on the latest podcast episode. California moving to outlaw homemade guns. Gabby at Gun Nuts Media shoots her first USPSA …

I’ve Been Busy Being Lazy…

Thought I’d take a second to check in and let y’all know why there’s been a lack of content this week: I’ve been quite lazy. No seriously, I’ve been tinkering with my little garden, and spending a lot of time sitting on the back porch with the dog, and it’s been glorious. On top of being lazy, I’ve been mending some little squash plants back to life, transplanting my peppers and cucumbers, and generally moving …

CNN Poll: Who Cares?

Has everyone seen this today? CNN, the channel that nobody watches apparently put a poll down at the very bottom of the page on their website (a place where nobody ever goes) regarding gun control. I think TTAG posted about it first, and from there every pro-gun Facebook page around was sharing it and making it go viral. I kept seeing things like “Fire Mission!!!! Zomg!!!”, “Hit this important poll!”, “Vote right now!” Why do …

Goodbye M&P, Hello Glock 34

After talking about it for a number of years I finally picked up a Glock 34 to shoot in competition. I moved away from Glocks temporarily because I was having slide bite issues, and the new beavertail backstraps hadn’t been released yet for the Gen4 pistols. Now they are, and I’m back. I’m not a “Glock guy” (see Episode 24 of the podcast) but I have found that I prefer them over the M&P’s I’ve …

My EDC Graveyard

I’m an EDC nerd, and I think I’ve been one since a was a little kid with a pocket knife. I’m not one of the EDC guys that carries a ton of stuff, but I like the stuff that I do carry to actually work. Unfortunately over the years I’ve collected a bunch of EDC gear that just doesn’t do it for me. Everybody who carries a gun needs to have a J-Frame S&W, right? …

WCFETC Action Matches Cancelled

I’m a sad panda this morning. Last night those of us who shoot the WCFETC Action matches received word that the matches are cancelled going forward. I’m sorry to hear it, as these Monday night shooting matches were some of my favorite shooting matches around. I want to publicly thank Joel Pendergraft for running the matches over the past few years. I know he put in a lot of work and did it because he …

I’m Still Going to Eat at Chipotle

Late last night I talked about the rifle open carry tools who walked into a Chipotle in Texas carrying a tacticool SKS at the low ready. Chipotle came out and requested that people not bring guns into their stores, and all of the anti-gun folks screamed victory. I have a feeling that Chipotle is going to take a play from Starbucks book after their hand was forced by tools just like these guys in Texas …

When You Actually Shoot Guns, They Break

Local shooter, all around good dude, 3-Gun Nation Pro Series competitor, and the man who sold me my first Glock, Tommy Smith had a mishap with his Timberwolf framed Glock at the Wake County Firearms Education and Training Center Action Pistol match last night: He said the rear frame rails let go and separated from the frame which looks like it caused the slide to ride up over the trigger housing. Tommy wants to know: …

Please Don’t Ruin Chipotle, This is Not Okay

I found this picture on Facebook tonight of two jackwagons in a Chipotle exercising their rights. Before I dive into this, I want to make it very clear that I have no problem with open carry of handguns, and I don’t have a problem with open carry of long guns. I do have a problem with people thinking that it’s okay to do things in a public setting that wouldn’t be okay behind the firing …
